Overview

Each region of India has its unique street food and Delhi is no exception. Visit our favorite vendors in Old Delhi and try the local specialties chole bature, dahi bhalla and aloo chat, as well as parathas, lassi and the very sweet but delicious jalebis and the local equivalent of rice pudding and bread and butter pudding. All of these dishes are vegetarian but meat eaters will have the option to try Indian fried chicken in the buzzing Matia Mahal neighbourhood towards the end of the tour. In addition to sampling the best of Old Delhi’s street food, we will also do some sightseeing as we explore the largest spice market in Asia, take a stroll along Chandni Chowk and stop to admire the imposing Jama Masjid. We will absorb the hustle and bustle of the narrow streets as we visit different locations by rickshaw. **Please note that the Spice Market has a lot less activity on Sundays. For the 1.00pm tour, there is about 50% less activity and for the 5.00pm tour, it is closed.

    Guests get the opportunity to taste dahi bhalla (a traditional yogurt-based snack), aloo chaat, paratha, and jalebi which give a great representation of the many unique flavours in Indian cuisine

    Visit Asia's largest spice market and taste chole bhature (a traditional Punjabi dish)

  • Jama Masjid

    View Jama Mosque, the heart of Islam in Delhi, from outside, and taste marinated chicken. Finish off the tour with delicious locally made desserts like kheer (Indian rice pudding) and shahi tukda (bread soaked in milk and nuts, like bread pudding). If you have any room left in your stomach, you can wash all of this down with some refreshing lassi.

We had a wonderful evening with Saurav as our guide. He was able to be flexible and accomodate us with starting a little bit late. He provided excellent historical and cultural explanations throughout our tour. He brought us to safe food stalls and watched out for us in the bazar. Overall an amazing experience!! Highly recommend.

An amazing experience. Great guide. Excellent choice of Indian foods. Spice market visit was well worth it. Enjoyed the rickshaw rides. Would highly recommend this as way to experience Old Delhi.

We loved everything about this tour. Not only we got to try some delicious food, but we got a 4h ride through old Delhi, which added value to all experience. Our tour guide Ajay was very friendly and super knowledgeable so we enjoyed every moment of the tour.

Unbelievable experience... Our tour guide Tarun was excellent, happy to answer any questions & his knowledge was exceptional. Food choices were varied & excellent and took my wife's vegetarian preference with no issues.. all vendors were very friendly & appreciative... Transfers between some food stops were 'interesting & exciting' ... DO NOT eat lunch before the 5pm tour... You will not go hungry! Definitely recommend!

This was a perfect tour to kickstart our time in Delhi. Our guide was great, but it was the food that really made this worth it. Every bite was so delicious, and I don't think we've had a better chai anywhere. It was great to have a guide to help us navigate the streets of Old Delhi, especially at night. The pace was a bit fast, but it was well worth it.
