Overview

This mystical driving tour through ancient Wiltshire reveals a magical story weaving the myths, legends, and history of this land. As you travel through this ancient landscape, you'll encounter the legends of King Arthur, King Alfred, and other mythical figures. The Blowing Stone's connection to King Alfred, the Uffington White Horse's possible link to the horse goddess Epona, and Dragon Hill's association with St. George. This journey is more than just a tour; it's a pilgrimage through time and myth with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who has known these places since young. Each site you visit is a step back into the past, a chance to connect with the ancient spirit of the land and the timeless wisdom they hold. To be enjoyed by family, friends and lovers of nature and mystery. Route may change depending on pick-up location.

Itinerary

  • Blowing Stone

The Blowing Stone is a perforated sarsen stone, located in Kingston Lisle, Oxfordshire. Legend has it that King Alfred used the stone to summon his troops before the Battle of Ashdown in 871 AD. When blown into, the stone emits a loud, trumpet-like sound that can be heard for miles

The White Horse may have served as a territorial marker or fertility symbol. The site's strategic position along the Ridgeway, Britain's oldest road, suggests it was a significant ceremonial location. The alignment with the winter solstice hints at its use in ancient rituals.

The barrow's alignment with the sunrise on certain days suggests it was used for rituals marking the passage of time and the seasons. We also visit the secret spring nearby.

Silbury Hill is the largest prehistoric man-made mound in Europe. Its purpose remains a mystery, but some theories suggest it was a symbolic "pregnant" Earth Mother goddess.
