    Nonomiya Shrine: This shrine is located in the bamboo forest of Arashiyama. This shrine was the setting for the 1,000-year-old historical work The Tale of Genji, and is believed to bring blessings such as marriage and fertility. Enjoy the quiet and magical atmosphere of the temple grounds, which are close to the bamboo forest path.

  • The Bamboo Forest Trail

    Arashiyama Bamboo Grove: The bamboo forest path is one of Kyoto's most famous sightseeing spots. Bamboo trees about 20 meters high stand on both sides of the 400 meter long road, making it look like a green tunnel. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll while being surrounded by the refreshing scent of bamboo.

    Jojakko-ji Temple: This is a temple surrounded by lush greenery located halfway up Mt. Ogura. Many maple trees are planted within the grounds, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of each season. Good tour that covers Kyoto

Great and varied trip around Kyoto. Only downside was the huge number of people at the main sites. This obviously isn't the guide's fault as they did their best to navigate through the traffic and provide different options for us. For example, she took us to an actor's gardens next top the bamboo forest to get away from the crowds.

We had a great private costumizable tour of Kyoto with our guide KEI. We really enjoy it very much. KEI was wonderful and very flexible to add the things we wanted to do. We had a wonderful time, the weather was fantastic.

Kiyoshi was our guide to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park. He was kind, patient, interesting and very knowledgeable. He engaged our kids, was a pleasure to walk with and his English is great. He has a mellow demeanor and always with a smile. We had a lovely day with him and highly recommend Kiyoshi!!!

We did a private tour of the Arashiyama area of Kyoto with Osamu. He was a great guide and got us beyond the tourists to some beautiful temples and shrines we might have missed on our own. It was great to have a deeper understanding of all we had seen so far and he was very patient answering all of my many questions! Great tour and we all agreed one of our highlights.
