Overview

Climb up into the traditional one horse-drawn sleigh and cuddle up under a cozy blanket to up the romance factor. See the horse's steamy breath rise in clouds as you set out into the snow-covered landscape of the mountain meadows close to the Banff townsite. Glide through the pristine meadows, admiring stunning views of the mountains and the surrounding valley. Look out for local wildlife and snap photos as you travel.

Meeting points

Please meet at Warner Stables, the big red stables located at the end of Sundance Road in Banff. When you arrive, please follow the sleigh ride signs to check in for your ride at the office in the west barn. There is plenty of free parking at the site.

Itinerary

    You will meet at the Warner Stables 15 minutes before your departure time. Enjoy a 40-minute sleigh ride on your private two seater cutter sleigh through the mountain meadows, situated close to the Banff town site. Admire the stunning views of majestic Mount Rundle and beautiful Mount Norquay as your guide provides information on the surrounding area. Cuddle up under a blanket and enjoy roasting marshmallows on an open fire with the included S'mores kit. If you are lucky you may even spot some local wildlife including deer or elk. A magical ride perfect for a romantic date, engagement or a special treat.

  • Minimum age is 18 years. Children (under 18 years) and babies are not permitted on this tour.
  • Maximum of two adults per sleigh.
  • Please dress appropriately. The sleigh is “open top” so we recommend that everyone dresses warm with multiple layers, mitts, hats, a thick winter jacket and boots.

Great ride on a cold day!

As part of our Anniversary Trip in January, I took my wife on the Banff Trail Riders' Private Sleigh Ride. This is a 45 minute ride around the property. Our driver was Grace. Grace spoke with us during the ride and telling us about the area and Banff Trail Riders. She was friendly and funny. However, our horse, Butch, was able to find every pothole and rut on the trail. Seriously, he was great. During the ride, we were supposed to drink champagne and have chocolates, but, we were enjoying the view and talking to Grace so that we forgot to have either. I would definitely recommend them.

I decided to take the private sleigh ride for two in Banff and propose to my girlfriend. They kept everything confidential cause she didn’t know, even up to the point where Oliver the driver pretended to take our picture (he was taking a video the whole time). It went without a hitch and we couldn’t be happier
