  • Arromanches-les-Bains

Your pilot will take you to Arromanches-les-Bains. It was on this beach that, during the Battle of Normandy, immediately after D-Day on June 6, 1944, the Allies established Port Mulberry B, a temporary artificial port to allow the landing of heavy equipment, without waiting for the conquest. deep-water ports, such as those of Le Havre or Cherbourg (Cherbourg-en-Cotentin since 2016). Although located in the center of the Gold Beach landing zone, Arromanches was spared the bulk of the fighting on D-Day. In order to allow the installation of a port and its proper functioning as quickly as possible, it was not necessary to degrade the beach and preserve the surrounding communication routes. The English troops therefore landed further east, between Asnelles and Ver-sur-mer, and liberated Arromanches by land on the evening of June 6. The port was therefore put into service on June 14.

Located in the Allied landing zone in Normandy, between the beaches of Omaha Beach and Gold Beach, the battery was subjected to intense aerial and naval bombardment preventing it from fully entering into action on D-Day and was taken as soon as possible. the next day by British troops. Amazing tour!

Published on Jan, 2025

My family of four did the 3 1/2 hour tour with Philipp and Florent. We went in December, it was cold, but it was 100% worth it! I had read in the reviews to do the longer tour option and I'm so glad we did. Our drives were extremely kind, professional & educational. My 17 year old son said it was way better than he thought it was going to be! He really enjoyed listening to Philipp and Florent's stories. We are now home and still thinking about the tour. Such an incredible experience and I'm so glad we did it! Thank you Philipp and Florent!

Incredible adventure with my child, 10 stars

Published on Dec, 2024

An incredible, unforgettable experience!! I brought my 8 year old son on a round trip from Paris by train in one day, in December. I was nervous it would be a long cold day, but no! Every minute was engaging, adventurous and compelling. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history and spoke excellent English. The gear they provided kept us warm and comfortable the entire time. We were never bored and we learned so much. I’m so glad we took a precious day away from Paris to experience the sites of D Day and the amazing history. We will never forget it!
