This was an amazing experience. I think just going through the Alhambra would not have been effective but Javier really brought the entire place alive. He was able to tie in the history, culture, and architecture wonderfully. I'll be honest, I was wary of booking the tour initially but think it was a great value. Javier was able to really hone in on important aspects of the history, put things in context. The way he bought together the history of Andalusia and connected it to things we'd seen in South Asia, Turkey, and North Africa was amazing. Allowed for breaks, photos, etc.

We did this as a private tour and there were just our guide Luis, my wife and myself and it was excellent. Luis was very knowledgeable and being just the three of us we could ask lots of questions and also navigate around the many large groups. The Alhambra is amazing and is a must see for everyone. Couldn't recommend the site or this tour more highly

Granada Spain, a living history.

Granada is, in overview, a fabulous city and worth a visit just to get a sense of it. Of course, the Alhambra is not to be missed. Do a short bit of research if unclear. There is also a great deal of very high class indigenous music to be heard at various sites. Search on line. If you do not know the history, the 16th Century was an astonishing time of back and forth between the Catholic hierarchy, the Muslim hierarchy an the Jewish population. culminating in Christopher Columbus being sent to the New World, and the expulsion of the Jews and the Muslims by Ferdinand and Isabella. The remnants of that history remain today and are worth exploring.
