We had a delightful time with Imane! She met us promptly at the tram station and we started out immediately to explore the food market in her neighborhood. The places she had selected for us were wonderful--donuts, soup, dates stuffed with walnuts, and of course those fantastic Moroccan olives. It was the perfect amount of strolling at a leisurely pace--We even had time to make a quick visit to the seashore for sunset. Next we reached her mother-in-law's riad where the dinner began. It's a lovely place and ever so comfy. We could not believe the amount of food that had been prepared and served to us. Bread, olives, side dishes like carrots, beets, eggplant, potates, and that doesn't ever count the main courses. The chicken, olive, and lemon tajine was some of the best we've had in Morocco. Loved the spicy meatballs, and being fairly close to the coast, there were fried sardines. And the company was as charming as promised. Of course her MIL was there, the two of us, Imane, and her husband joined us. It was such a fun filled evening, just as the description had promised. You really do feel like you are part of the family. We had been a little leery when we first read about eating dinner at a stranger's house, but we are SO glad we did. We cannot recommend this experience highly enough.
