This English/Spanish spoken guided daytour to the nature reserve of Ria Lagartos and the amazing Maya site of Ek Balam make this combination of nature and archaeology a must do during your visit in Valladolid. You won´t regret it!

Itinerary

Parque Natural Ria Lagartos

Guided boattour for about 2 hours in this Unesco natural park. Boatrental, entrance to the park and English/Spanish speaking guide are included. You´ll see birds, different types of mangroves, most probably crocodiles. As for the Flamingos: this park is where their nesting aerea is (we´re not allowed to go to the nests), so you´ll definitely see them the whole year round. How many? There are days we see only ten or a hundred, but you´ll never see a thousand ;-).

Ek Balam

English/Spanish guided tour in this must see site. Only about 20 years ago archaeologists discovered here the facade of a Maya mausoleum that is 85% intact like it was in the year 800 AD. If you´re not interested in Ek Balam you can visit the local cenote Xcanche (entrances not included: Ek Balam 494 mxn pp foreigners, Xcanché cenote 170 mxn pp).

Great way to explore the Yucatan

Great tour to see the wildlife at Rio Lagartos, followed by an excellent lunch before visiting a cenote and Ek Balam. We had Ek Balam and the cenote basically to ourselves which made it a great experience. Mexigo team hosted a great tour.

Jose, our tour guide, was great! Very knowledgeable about the area and Mayan culture. A long day but a really enjoyable one. Would recommend.

Great experience. Rio Lagatos was not pink when we visited due to recent weather but the boat ride and the wildlife were great. Impressive to see Ek Balam a less visited archaeological site. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging.

We had a fantastic day with Mexigo Tours! José was a really excellent and knowledgeable guide, and managed a bilingual tour effortlessly. The facilities, bus, food, boat and all other aspects were of a very high quality and made the day thoroughly enjoyable. We were lucky enough to see crocodiles, flamingos and the pink lagoon in Rio Lagartos in the morning. After a lovely lunch we went to Ek Balam which was amazing and explained in great detail. The day was topped off with a cool dip in a cenote! Would highly recommend.

Brilliant day trip

This was an amazing day trip with our excellent guide Gilberto. The boat trip at Rio Lagartes was excellent - I can't believe how close we got to the crocodiles and I loved seeing the flamingos (and so many other birds that Gilberto was able to identify for us). Ek Balam was incredibly impressive, with a great tour & information provided. The Xcanche cenote afterwards was a perfect end to a very hot day!
