Your local guide will pick up you from your hotel lobby at your desired time in the morning. Then you will follow BBC Rick Stein’s footsteps to taste Shanghai. First, you will go to the Yuyuan bazaar, which is the old Ming and Qing dynasty architecture market, with various of souvenir shops and restaurants where you can enjoy your time there shopping and taking photos. You will have chance to taste some of the famous snack in the markets if you are interests, such as the spring roll, Big soup dumplings. Famous Yu Garden is just right next to the bazaar, if you want to have a visit, please let your guide know (Yuyuan garden close on Monday).

After your morning tour, your guide will take you to a nice local restaurant where you can enjoy some well-known local food, such as Xiao Long Bao (soup dumpling) and Chairman Mao's favorite dish Hong Shao Rou (Braised pork in brown sauce). Xiao Long Bao is a characteristic of Shanghai cuisine, with over hundred years of history. Pork minced “Xiao Longs” are the most classical ones and once it comes to right season, you can also try the crab-meat one.

In the afternoon, you will visit Shanghai Tower the tallest building in China (the 2nd tallest in the world). The observatory of “Shanghai Tower” is with the height of 632 meters, and you can have a panoramic view of the whole city with 360 degrees dimension at the “airborne city “and “city’s smart eyes”. It is really unique experience on the top and is the best choice for enjoying damper, the high-tech achievement.

After that, you will you will enjoy a relaxing river cruise ride on the mother river of Shanghai - Huangpu River. You will have a glimpse of Shanghai’s past and look into the bright future of the city from Riverside Promenade area. Your cruise offers a great view of the grand colonial buildings along west side of the Bund, such as the famous Peace hotel, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank and etc.. Turn towards east side, you will see the skyscrapers of shanghai, like Oriental Pearl TV Tower, World Financial Center, and Shanghai Tower. If you choose the afternoon departure,you will enjoy the prosperous lights, which will lights up your whole trip. If you have visit some of those places before, you can choose the place from the following based on your interests. • Shanghai museum • Jade Buddha temple • Tianzifang/Former French concession • TV Tower/Jinmao Tower/World financial center • Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art CenterAfter the tour ends, your guide will send you back to the hotel.

We were very lucky and privileged to take this tour on Chinese New Year. Jane looked after us superbly, adjusting the itinerary to help us get a real taste of Shanghai amongst the mayhem and a bit of rain. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to bustling old town Shanghai and Jane led us through the crowd covering a lot of ground. We made the call to avoid the lines at Shanghai Tower which disappeared into the mist anyway and we went to the Jade Buddha temple instead. Jane gave us a very in depth explanation of every aspect. We were driven to the French Concession and enjoyed a picturesque walk through before we were driven to an amazing Shanghai dinner!! Finally we were dropped off at the ferry terminal which we would never get through without Janes help… the river cruise was spectacular and the VIP tickets with oolong tea and snacks made the experience even more special. We bid Jane farewell and rode back to our hotel in our luxury vehicle. What a way to introduce ourselves to the vibrancy of beautiful Shanghai!!!

Was a pleasure. Perfectly organized. Absolute recommendation. Thanks to our guide Snow, she is very helpful and knowledgeable.The food we eat for dinner is very tasty. we visit a lot of nice place. The car is very comfortable. Highly recommend!

I really loved how knowledgeable my guide, Xin, was. She was incredibly friendly and intelligent. We went to the Yu gardens ,and to Chinatown, and to a beautiful observation deck and dinner a walk along the balloon and finally a wonderful trip on the river. If you are thinking of taking this trip, I suggest you do. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I only speak a little Chinese and having somebody that was fluent and knew the city made me feel so confident. Did I mention you should do this? :)

Before the tour even started, Alana, the tour coordinator, got in contact with us to check if we had any particular requests and to make sure the tour was perfectly adapted to our requirements. This was extremely thoughtful and helpful and after a short discussion we moved the tour start 1 hour earlier to make sure we could visit the yujuan garden, effectively increasing the tour time by 1 hour without any extra charge. Our taxi driver, Miss Cheng, was on time and lovely. Our guide, Charlie, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The tour was very interesting and well organised, with almost no waiting time inbetween activities. The food was lovely and there was more than enough to feed everyone despite some of us starving because of the jetlag. Beers were included. At the end we finished the day with a boat ride. The boat was crowded so the tour operator upgraded us to the VIP aera of the boat. This was a lovely touch to finish the day, the boat ride was wonderful and we now leave this place with beautiful pictures. The hotel pickup and drop-off was very important for us and we are glad they could provide it as our hotel was quite far out of town. 10/10, excellent day and excellent tour. Wonderful experience. We could have not experience as many things just by oursleves.
