  • Hobbiton Movie Set

    This small group tour is an easy day trip from Auckland to Hobbiton movie set. The day includes a fully guided tour of the set as seen in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy and we also include a sumptuous lunchtime feast in the Party Marquee. Our experienced guides look after you all day from pick up to drop off at your Auckland City Accommodation. They include a full commentary on the way with insights into the areas you are travelling through and background to the movie set you are visiting *The tour at Hobbiton is with a larger group for the tour on set. The tour is 2 hours followed by time in the Green Dragon Inn & then buffet lunch at the Party Marquee

    At Hobbiton we will take you down to the set itself and have one of the specialist Hobbiton guides take you on a walking tour around the 44 Hobbit holes. You will get the chance to have a photo in the doorway of a Hobbit house, see the Party Tree and stand by the gate to Bilbo’s house ‘Bag End’ overlooking the whole set to the hills in the distance. Before your feast in the Party Marquee (which is included in the price) you cross the bridge by the mill to go into the Green Dragon Inn where you can enjoy a complimentary ale, cider or ginger beer. You then return to Auckland (2 hours journey with a toilet stop)

Magical New Zealand Experience

Wayne was our Bush and Beach tour guide for the day. Everything was well-planned and provided the four of us with an excellent experience. Even if you are not a Lord of the Rings fan, this tour is worth a day of your trip in New Zealand. The early start allowed us to avoid the busiest times of the day. The tour at Hobbiton was very organized so you didn't feel rushed or crowded at each part. It is a magical place, and walking through the Hobbit house was special. The attention to details was incredible. We also enjoyed the buffet (if you left hungry, it's your own fault!) A special thanks to Wayne for realizing that one of our group left a phone in the van, which he returned to our hotel promptly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED tour and company!

The hotel pickup was right on time. The drive out to Hobbiton was smooth sailing and a very comfortable Sprinter style van. The rest stops are will planned at quality locations. Our driver Mary was great. Very informative with lots of interesting information. Hobbiton tour operate like clockwork. Entertaining and informative. The luch was very very good with many choices and what appeared to be great care for those with dietary needs. Well done to all involved.

Hobbiton is exactly as you expect as a movie set - only better. The location is beautiful and the staff excellent. Tons of people but they manage it so well you never feel you’re standing around wasting time.

Very efficient provider. Good email communication on what to expect, where to be and when. Arrived for the pickup on the dot. Good commentary on the 2-hour drive from Auckland. Rest stop 1/2 way was greatly appreciated. Excellent communication on where to be at what times during arrival and departure. Of course, the site itself was great.
