Overview

Unlike other tours, we take you inside the castle and guide you round in a small group, so you get the time to ask questions and learn about this fascinating castle. We even pay your entrance fee. Learn about the history of the castle and why it has such a special role in Welsh history. Stand on the spot where Princes of Wales have been crowned and even see the room where the first Prince of Wales was born. You can walk the castle walls and up to the top of the Eagle tower. Followiing the guided tour you get 30 minutes free time to either spend in the castle or in Caernarfon's excellent shops.

Anglesey

Scenic drive across Anglesey and over the Britania Bridge with views of the Menai straits and the mountains of Snowdonia. Learn about the history and language of Wales as we travel. Whilst we aim to leave at 9.00, we understand that the transfer buses may be full and will wait until 9.20 should you be delayed in getting off the ship.

Castell Caernarfon

A guided tour of the castle. See the exhibitions and historic parts of the castle. Learn about the design of the castle and its ancient and recent history. See a video show on the building of the castle and an exhibition detailing the rulers of Wales over time. For those who like a challenge, we can walk the walls and to the top of the Eagle tower. For those unable to manage this there is a lift to a viewing area. With a maximum of 8 guests, you will get the personal touch! Entrance fee included in the price, saving you £12.50!

Caernarfon

Time to either take in the rest of the castle or indulge in some retail therapy in Caernarfon town before we hed back to port in time for lunch.

Menai Suspension Bridge

Drive back to Holyhead, crossing over the 198 year old Menai Suspension Bridge. Spend the afternoon aboard ship or take in the town of Holyhead, only a few minutes walk from the drop off point. Alternatively, you could join our afternoon "Anglesey Highlights" tour

We booked both the morning and afternoon half day tours with Tudno tours and would highly recommend to get a better experience in Wales the day was full of sites with nice breaks for snacks and lunch.

Best Tour of the Cruise

Our tour of Caernarfon Castle with Trevor of Tudno Tours was the best tour of our 12 day cruise. We had never visited Wales, but we left loving the beautiful scenery and knowing more about the role of Wales in the history of the British Isles. Trevor was waiting promptly at the end of the very long pier in Holyhead, and took our group of 6 to the castle, while providing some historical background to the site we were to visit. He had prearranged our admission tickets to the castle, so we strolled in past the large group from the ship's tour. He led us expertly through the castle, explaining how it was constructed and defended over the years. The tour concluded with King Charles investiture as Prince of Wales at the castle, and a bit of time for shopping in the charming town. Trevor provided lots of interesting history in an amusing way, making the tour both fun and informative.
