Receive entry into St Paul's Cathedral - Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece. Explore the vast Cathedral Floor with its exquisite decor of mosaics, sculptures, paintings and artworks. Climb the Dome to the Whispering Gallery with its unique acoustics, and then up and outside to the Stone Gallery and finally the Golden Gallery with breathtaking panoramic views over London.   • No bags or items larger than 45cm x 30cm x 25cm (including handles, wheels and pockets).
  • Personal non-flash photography is permitted inside the Cathedral except on the Whispering Gallery. The recording of video and the use of lighting, selfie sticks, tripods and monopods are not permitted.
  • Child ticket holders (available to those aged 6-17) must be accompanied and supervised by an adult aged 18 or over when accessing the Dome Galleries.
  • Please note: Special services or events may close all, or part, of the cathedral at short notice. Please check specific sightseeing opening hours before you visit.
  • Multimedia guides are included. If you are interested in a real tour guide at certain times a day you are able to reserve a place at the guiding desk when you arrive at the cathedral. It is not possible to make reservations in advance.
  • Entry into the Cathedral is accessible to wheelchair users and step free access is available throughout and between the Cathedral Floor and Crypt. However access to the Dome Galleries is unavoidably via stairs only which are narrow and steep in places. A video of the views from the climb can be found on the multimedia guide.
  • A self-identifying disabled person may receive free entry along with a carer or necessary companion (all such free places are allocated on arrival and cannot be booked).
  • You do not need to pre-book an entry timeslot.
  • Entrance to the Golden Gallery is subject to availability due to capacity controls in operation, and there may be time restrictions in place.

A lot of steps to the top but worth it for the view

I enjoyed my visit to St Paul's Cathedral. I visited on a Monday morning and it was pretty quiet, particularly when compared to the madness of Westminster Abbey. There was a very good free tour with an extremely knowledgeable guide, who explained Wren's ideas and the later Victorian embellishment. The highlight for me though was the climb to the top of the dome. There are three levels, the first internal at the base of the dome overlooking the interior of the Cathedral, next up an external view from the base of the dome and finally the steep climb to the top of the dome for a fabulous view over London. There's a lot of steps, and quite steep, but I'm 61 and managed it without too much difficulty and it was well worth it for the views. It's not cheep to enter (£26) but it's worth seeing once, particularly if you're a Londoner who's always looked at it from the outside.

What a stunning and enormous building, filled with glorious paintings, statues, tombs and more. It’s one of the finest Cathedrals I’ve been in, and its size and beauty fills you with awe. (Which of course is what it’s supposed to do.) The walk up to the whispering gallery was worth the many many steps though I was unable to do the final stretch from the outside to the top of the dome as I don’t like the combination of heights and stairs with holes. In the beautiful crypt you will find the tombs of Horatio Nelson and Christopher Wren (who designed the Cathedral and many of the surrounding churches.) There was a nice café on site and good toilet facilities.

This cathedral is stunningly beautiful. We paid to get in and then got assigned a tour guide who led us through this magnificent building while educating us on its rich and storied history. My husband and I love history so we listened intendedly as our guide told tales of the building's long life. After the tour, you can continue your visit at your own pace and/or tackle the 528 steps that lead to the dome. The steps to get to the dome are not for everyone. They are steep in places and it was quite tiring at times, but there are places to stop and rest. If you can make it all the way to the top dome you are rewarded with a simply gorgeous view of London. It was also interesting to see some of the many famous people who are buried in the cathedral.

The self-guided tour was outstanding. We went early and the cathedral wasn’t too crowded. We actually ended up spending over 4 hours visiting all parts of the cathedral. I could see where the pre-booked tickets could save time when crowds are heavier.
