Overview

In a small and friendly group, partake in a sensational visit of 2 wineries of Archanes area. Visit first a new and dynamic boutique winery. Visit the facilities, from production area to bottling area, cellars with the winemakers explainign about wine process and technics. This will be followed by a wine tasting with a sample of 5 wines representing some of the most interesting local grapes varietals. Move then to a multi awarded winery for another 5 wine sample tasting. Before lunch, in the restaurant, discover about extra virgin olive oil tasting and other traditional products like honey, marmelades, vinegars,... Discover traditional Cretan cooking with a mezze bar visit for a real Cretan lunch. Prepare for several plates of cold and warm mezzes to be brought to your table to share. Customers need to have their voucher (either by phone or printed on a paper) with them during the tour for tax reason
Pick up will be organized as much as possible at hotel reception. However it can happen for traffic reason (city town, no parking at hotel, one way roads, ... that we will provife a close to hotel meeting point with parking place

Petras was a fantastic guide and extremely knowledgable about wine, cuisine, history, and culture of Crete. The wines were outstanding, food delicious, and the views outstanding. Highly recommend!

Book this tour!

If you only do one thing in Heraklio then do this! The tour was very easy to book online ahead of time. A final email was sent out two days in advance of the tour providing pickup location (our hotel is in a pedestrianised location). Pierre arrived on time and we kicked off. Seven hours later we arrived back having ticked off two wineries, about 15 tastings and a fantastic restaurant for lunch in Arhanes. Everyone we met was genuinely friendly and very helpful. Pierre has a very easy charm. He knows a lot about food and wine. He even gave us some advice on how to brine our own olives back home. The tour is very reasonably priced considering the wines, food and Pierre’s time are all included. We can’t thank Pierre enough. The day spent with him was fantastic and gave us a real insight into Cretan wine.
