Overview

During this tour, we will explore the set of the Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. We will visit all the spots where Rachel McAdams, Will Ferrell and Pierce Brosnan performed their roles. Our local guide also shows Húsavík’s best spots and some hidden gems, starting from Húsavíkurkirkja, the iconic wooden church built in 1907 (Will Ferrell announces his and Sigrit’s admission to the Eurovision selection from the bell tower of this church). Other locations of the Walking Tour will be the area of the oldest house ever built in Iceland, by Swedish explorer Garðar Svavarsson in winter 870, and the harbour, heart of the town in the past which even nowadays, in a different way, is the core of the local community. If you’ve fallen in love with Húsavík during the movie, come here and discover more! The most iconic song of the movie inspired this bar located on Husavik cape, with great views over the town and the harbour, that acts as a gate to the magnificent Eurovision Song Contest Exhibition. Beside the bar, we can even try to meet the elves, hoping they don't go too far this time!

Being the most iconic building in town, the picturesque church can't be missed. Even more so because Lars celebrated on top of the bell tower when Fire Saga entered the national selection for the ESC!

A fabulous guide who was able to give a good tour around Husavik and some great insight to the making of the movie. Really enjoyed this tour and appreciated the insight we got into living in the area. Super interesting and a bit of fun movie trivia.

Husavik locations and history

We really enjoyed this walk with Francesco who took us to the film location sites and told us some “ behind the scenes” stories. Some of these were via his partner and friends who had been extras. We had not previously heard about the Oscar nomination for the song so that was also interesting. We also learnt about the town itself and the history of fishing and tourism. We had recommendations for places to eat and drink and for local walks. This experience really adds to our enjoyment of our 3 days in Husavik.
