The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.

During World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the 17th-century canal house, known as the Secret Annex (Dutch: Achterhuis). She did not survive the war but her wartime diary was published in 1947. Ten years later the Anne Frank Foundation was established to protect the property from developers who wanted to demolish the block.

Van Gogh A+ boat ride B

Published on Jun, 2024

The Van Gogh Museum was pure pleasure. The large collection is well displayed and is light and airy. His biography is seamlessly incorporated into the exhibit, a compelling life story in itself. The boat ride was afterward—a short walk. Because it was a warm day, the enclosed cabin was hot and stuffy. The commentary wasn’t very enlightening.
