Itinerary

In the beautiful bay of La Paz lives the largest fish in the world, the whale shark, this gentle giant shares its home with us, we swim for about 50 minutes with them. We are a proud company to take care of this specimen and we follow all the governmental regulations, so we making little groups of 5 people to make the possibility to swim closest as possible from them without touching it

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Tour's departure initial time is not guaranteed. This is because of new regulations that protect the enviroment of whale sharks. This activiy is regulated by Protected species and they will determine the shift or initial time for this activity. Possible initial times 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm. We will confirm to you initial time one day before. Please be patient while we wait for our turn to depart. It is possible the wait could be between 30 minutes until 3 hours to enter to whale shark feed zone, this regulations applies to all companies in La Paz City.

Once in a lifetime!! Armando was excellent, knowledgeable and fun!! Highly recommend! Bring warm clothes for when you get out the water.

We have been all over the world and this was definitely one of our top experiences. Booking was easy, communication was spot on. Armando was a great guide, he is very knowledgeable about the area and explained everything well. I could tell he was just as excited about finding the animals and swimming with them as we were. He made sure people with less swimming capabilities were comfortable and able to get a good view, if they needed more help in the water he took them individually. We all got multiple times in the water in small groups of three or less. Towards the end he checked to make sure everyone had their fill of snorkeling and were happy with the experience before we headed back to the marina. Armando was very good about giving the animals their space and explained why touching them is not good for them. Super great experience, we can’t wait to come back and do more tours with them. Just a side note: Bring a camera, but if you’re not a strong swimmer just leave it in the boat when it is your turn to swim. In my opinion it is way more important to get the experience without fiddling with technology while trying to keep up with a giant animal that can out swim humans even on their worst day. Armando took great videos which you can purchase at the end of the trip and pull stills from. It cost a bit more for the videos but you just paid money to see, and swim, with the whale sharks, why not actually experience the swim and let someone else worry about capturing it?

This is a bucket list experience to swim alongside these gentle giants. Sun Rider tours guide Armando and Captain Martin put in tremendous skill and passionate understanding of these creatures. Each person on our boat was given a unique moment or two with our whale. Pay attention to the clearly stated instructions on being patient and attentive in order to have your bucket list photo- or skip the camera expectation and enjoy the moment. This was a physical four hour day on the water for just a few precious moments. Keep your expectations in check and it’ll blow your mind to be so close.
