The trip was great - We first cruised by the famous arch and everyone got pictures on the front of the boat. Then the search for whales began. Even though it was technically a week before whale season, our operator found a group of 5-6 whales surfacing and jumping for quite a while. We had some amazing views and were able to get lots of good pictures.
But a word of warning to cruise ship passengers : We booked the 12:00 noon trip, and our ship was scheduled to start tendering passengers around 10:30 AM. The trip's meeting point is a good 20 minute walk (for fast walkers) from the tender port, so I knew it would be tight. Then the bad news, followed by more bad news. I found out the evening before the trip that Cabo is an hour ahead of ship time. So 10:30 ship time is really 11:30 Cabo time. Our Carnival ship was giving out tender passes first come first serve starting at 8 am, so at 7:45 I went to see if there was any line - there was - it was very very very long already - I ended up getting group 22! But then the saving grace - our ship got into port a good hour early, so we were able to get on a tender around 10:30 AM (11:30 AM Cabo time), and made it to the tour on time. Had we not gotten in a hour early we would have missed our tour time.
Again, it is a good 15-20 minute walk from the tender port. Just put Starbucks into Google Maps and follow the walking directions - it's just across the way from Starbucks.
