Experience western Japan on this day trip through Kyoto and Nara. Itinerary

  • Arashiyama

    First, we'll make our way to Arashiyama, where we'll enjoy a traditional Japanese lunch of seasonal Kyoto specialties (If option selected) before exploring the area. The Sagano Bamboo forest has been a popular nature-viewing destination since the Heian Period. Listen to the distinct rustle of bamboo leaves as you walk through the vibrant green bamboo path. You can also see the "moon-crossing bridge," Togetsukyo, as you walk along the beautiful Katsura River.

  • Kinkakuji Temple

    Later, drive through Kyoto proper and arrive at Kinkaku-ji: the Golden Pavilion. True to its name, the gold-leaf covered temple dazzles in the sunlight, reflected in the mirror-like pond it overlooks. After admiring the sight (and taking some great pictures,) wander through the sprawling garden that has retained its original design from the 14th century. Admission tickets not included in last minute option.

  • Nara

    Take a short walk through Nara Park, famous for the 1,200 or so wild deer that live freely within the park. With special "shika-senbei," you can feed the polite deer which are famous for "bowing." Within Nara Park you will find the UNESCO World Heritage site, Todai-ji Temple, home to one of the three titanic Great Buddha Statues of Japan.

Nara dears and bamboo forest

Jewel our guide was fantastic, we had a good meal though the buffet can be chaotic specially since we had hoards of tourist from china and they had no respect for lines or queues. It was the only time in Japan that we observed this. Nothing to do with the tour or the venue.

Nara deer's in a semi wildlife environment were great to watch and interface. Also the tour was well organised apart from the meeting point. They should be more specific about the pick up point, that is which side of in front of the Avanti building ie right or left as it is a wide building. Also Indicate that guides will be in yellow. Few people had issues with this.

Interacting with the deer was so much fun. Si glad that theae animals are free to roam in the park.Fushimi inari was amazing and lunch was just perfect.

We had lots of time at the Nara Park and saw lots of the friendly deer! Do plan for a full day. Hama was our tour guide and she was great. Well worth it!
