Overview

Explore Florence together with a local guide and discover the history, art and unknown stories! Take a slow stroll through the old Center of the city where you can see beautiful historical buildings, palaces, museums, churches and gardens. We will guide you to admire the Baptistery, the Duomo-Cathedral, Dante's home, Bargello Palace and Piazza della Signoria. You will also enjoy the sight of Palazzo Vecchio, a remarkable example of civil architecture. Here you will discover an open air museum with various masterpieces including the copy of Michelangelo's David, right in front of Palazzo Vecchio. Then we will pass through the wings of the Uffizi Gallery. Following the Arno River, we will walk towards Ponte Vecchio and its gold jewelry shops and we will see part of the other side of the river. 15 min before please for the check in .

  • Corridoio Vasariano (Pass By)

    This was built by Vasari in five months to celebrate the marriage of Francesco de Medici and Joanna of Austria in 1565 and provides unique views of the city. Nearly a kilometre long, its purpose was to connect Palazzo Vecchio via the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio with the new residence of the Medici dukes at Palazzo Pitti, in the form of a private covered passageway.

    The last residence of the Medici Family. The majestic Palazzo Pitti was built by the merchant Luca Pitti as an effective demonstration of his wealth and power to his rivals the Medici. In 1549, when the palace was bought by Eleanor of Toledo, wife of Cosimo I, its magnificence was increased and the beautiful Boboli Gardens were laid out behind it. It became the official seat of the Medici dynasty of grand dukes after Cosimo I moved here from Palazzo Vecchio. Great tour with Luigi. He had great energy and showed us some lovely spots and hidden gems. He even made sure to stay around after to recommend good places for food and drink. You won’t be disappointed with this tour.

Excellent Tour

Raffaello was a fantastic guide, providing a detailed and enlightening Historical Florentine experience. He is an art history professor as well to make it an even more enriched walking tour! Providing the details of the architecture, the artistic timelines, and religious influences all throughout the city and tying a lot that we have learned during our education to what we were seeing on the walk. I highly recommend him as a guide!

Francesco was our guide on 21 April 2024 for Viator's Art and History Tour of Florence. He was the best guide we had on our 2 week trip to Italy with 4 couples. On this tour there were 2 couples which made it so nice because we could easily hear all the interesting things that Francesco had to say, and he let us set the pace more. Francesco is energetic, speaks superb English and fun to be with. We learned so much with Francesco, and we didn't want the tour to end! He told us he is a history school teacher, and I can imagine how much fun he makes learning for his students! Ask for Francesco if you book this tour.
