Athabasca River Mile 5: Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery combined with breathtaking vistas as we paddle 9km through several mild rapids. This 2hr round trip is a perfect fun introduction to white water rafting!

Overview

This two hour round trip (~one hour on the water ) is our most popular trip, and has the longest season, early May to late September. Your adventure begins with a 10 minute float followed by Class II rapids. Class II is an excellent introduction to white water as it offers a mix of splashy thrills, and calm floats. Suitable for ages 5 and up. For groups larger than 8 people, please contact us before booking.

Meeting points

Next to the Jasper Home Building Center (706 Sleepy Hollow Road), and across the railway tracks from the set of traffic lights at Connaught Drive and Hazel Avenue. Look for our blue or yellow school buses with yellow rafts on the trailer. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time.

Itinerary

Raft down what explorer David Thompson and countless fur traders canoed up. It's more fun this way! Introductory Class II rapids will provide fun splashes, and the Athabasca Valley will provide splendid vistas to keep you thoroughly entertained during your hour on the Athabasca River.

Late and No Show Policy - Please double check the date, time and pick up location on your confirmation. Our primary pick up location is the RV Parking Lot and scheduled departure times are based on this location. Out of respect for other guests, we ask that all participants arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time. If you have chosen a pick up location other than the RV Parking Lot, please note the pick up time for your location. There will be no refund provided if you arrive after departure time or do not show for the date and time of your scheduled trip.

Incredible experience, our first white water rafting. Wonderful to see the beautiful views from another perspective. Whilst on the river, our guide, Josh, pointed out the slight haze of smoke in the distance caused by forest fires; little did any of us know that Jasper would be evacuated just 2 days later, and the devastation that would follow. It is heartbreaking to see the destruction and we feel so lucky to have seen this amazing part of the world before it was destroyed. The team at Jasper, along with all those who resided in this gorgeous town and surrounding area have been in our thoughts every day.

Will was our rafting guide. He did a wonderful job of keeping us safe yet also making the experience a lot of fun. We had our two young daughters with us who had never been on a rafting tour before. They absolutely loved it. We will definitely come back and try the Class 3 rapids.

Great rafting trip today. Thanks to the organisers - well organised and would suit all ages from 5 to 95. I went with my two boys (21 and 18) and they had a great time. My eldest had a go at steering (with supervision) plus they both got tips on travelling thanks to the guide Seb. Thanks again all - great trip.

Great fun for a beginners tour!! Josh and the other guys did a great job! We definitely recommend this tour for beginners, now we are ready for more fun and action!
