Overview

Admire Jasper National Park’s spectacular beauty from the illuminating and exciting Glacier Skywalk. A 1,312-foot-long (400-meter) walkway that extends nearly 100 feet (30 meters) into Sunwapta Valley, the Glacier Skywalk provides unobstructed views of Alberta’s mountain peaks and glacier-formed valleys. The observation platform at the end of the walkway puts you almost 1,000 feet above the valley floor, with a glass bottom to give you an extra thrilling experience.

  • Columbia Icefield Skywalk

    Step out on a cliff-edge walkway where giant glaciers perch above you and the spectacular Sunwapta Valley spreads out below. The Columbia Icefield Skywalk experience features waterfalls, wildlife, fossils and more on an exciting 1-kilometre walkway that leads to a platform where glass is all that separates you from a 918-foot (280 m) drop. The walk is presented in an interpretive storytelling format that will connect you to the natural world in a deep and meaningful way. You must park at the Columbia Icefield Discovery Center and take the bus to the Skywalk.

Such a cool, fun excursion

This was one of the highlights of our trip! Loved it!! Jackson, our driver to the glacier was so personable and gave a great talk on the glacier before we arrived! Enjoyed his humor & personality!!

Experience the Columbia Icefield Skywalk !!

Super neat, exciting activity! The whole experience was totally worth it! The Icefield Center building itself is top notch with amenities and really nice informative exhibits. The shuttle service to the Skywalk was very prompt and well run. Plenty of time to experience the Skywalk as there’s no time limit to experience it. Take your time and enjoy the views! After the Skywalk, ride the shuttle down and cross the street to experience the toe of the Athabasca glacier. Well worth the experience. It’s going away fast so go get a good look up close!

A little less expensive...

A little less expensive to buy ahead of time rather than at the Discovery Center. We were 15 mins late for our scheduled time and could easily board bus leaving in the next 15 mins (in mid September)

A fabulous day trip from Banff

I appreciated the efficiency of the Columbia Icefields experience - ability to purchase tickets online, timed entrees, regular transport to/from the Skywalk, and management of group sizes. The drive itself on the Parkway to get there was stunning. The Discovery Center was clean, well-organized and staffed with sufficient employees to provide a good customer experience. The Skywalk itself was incredible, not only due to the views but the explanatory boards along the way. We enjoyed both the gift shop and cafeteria as well. It was a little hazy from wildfire smoke the day we visited but it was nonetheless an amazing experience.
