Overview

See the city of Christchurch from above by taking a trip aboard the Christchurch Gondola. The cable car takes you on a scenic journey to the Port Hills crater rim and Mt Cavendish summit, giving you fabulous views of Christchurch's dramatically changed cityscape. See Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour unfold as you rise to the summit complex, on the crater rim of Christchurch's famous extinct volcano. Please note the Christchurch Gondola is a 15 minute drive from the city centre and a ten minute drive from the port of Lyttelton. To see even more of Christchurch, go Punting on the Avon River. If the combo package is purchased. Surprisingly Enjoyable

We were pleasantly surprised with how much we enjoyed this activity. Not only was the ride on the gondola there and back interesting, but the shop at the top and the restaurant are both nice. The “ride” on the time travel machine is ok so can be missed if you are crunched for time. It is extremely windy at the top so dress appropriately no matter how warm it is in the car park where you depart.

Well organised. Fantastic views. If you want to walk around at the top wear sensible shoes or boots. Good gift shop and cafe.

Excellent views. Nice gift shop. Ten minutes each direction. Easy to get to with the number 7 bus from the port. Nice coffee shop.

First time on the Gondola for our 6 year old granddaughter and it was fabulous!

What a fabulous experience for our 6 year old Granddaughter. Great fun and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Will definitely do this again, it was awesome!
