Saint Barbara Coptic known in the Eastern Orthodox Church as the Great Martyr Barbara, was an early Christian Lebanese and Greek saint and martyr. Accounts place her in the 3rd century in Heliopolis Phoenicia, present-day Baalbek, Lebanon. There is no reference to her in the authentic early Christian writings nor in the original recension of Saint Jerome's martyrology

The Hanging Church is named for its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress, the Roman fortress in Coptic Cairo (Old Cairo); its nave is suspended over a passage.[2] The church is approached by twenty-nine steps; early travelers to Cairo dubbed it "the Staircase Church".[2] The land surface has risen by some six metres since the Roman period, so the Roman tower is mostly buried below ground, reducing the visual impact of the church's elevated position

We had the most AMAZING experience during this Coptic Cairo tour! Our tour guide Adahm (I believe is the spelling) was incredibly knowledgeable about every place that we visited. Both him and the tour driver were soooo kind and had us laughing a lot! However, we were mostly amazed by their hospitality! They both treated us like friends/family rather than customers. We were truly surprised by how amazing the entire tour/experience was! I will definitely rebook again when I return to Egypt with my family

We had an incredible experience on this tour! Unfortunately, I got sick on the tour and our driver and tour guide took me to get food and kindly offered to bring me to the pharmacy. They made sure we had a great experience and were extremely knowledgeable of Egypt’s Coptic history

Thank you Myrna for such an engaging and enriching experience. Not only were you so knowledgeable about the sites we visited, you also were a very enthusiastic and captivating storyteller....not to mention a patient picture taker of a solo traveler! I appreciate your giving me the time and space to pray and reflect at the holy sites we visited. You made possible for this tour to be a spiritual pilgrimage as well.
