Our guides, who are also professional photographers, will capture beautiful photos of you under the lights—delivered straight to your inbox within 8 days, so you can relive the magic. Itinerary

First off, you will start your hunt for the Northern Lights with a bit of planning via the Aurora forecast and start your exploration by heading towards the selected location. You might drive for up to one hour to reach a good spot and perhaps wait for the lights to appear. At this point, we take out the hot chocolate and Icelandic pastries. We also have Icelandic wool blankets on board to keep you warm while standing outside. There may be the decision of changing spots, by interacting with other locals as there are many different people outside looking for lights every night. We do this to increase the possibilities of finding Northern Lights. If there are no northern lights while on tour, you get to try again for free (upon availability). By traveling in a minibus you get the quality of a small group of no more than 19 people, as crowds are being avoided in order to get to the best spot available.

Please note that the access to restroom facilities out of urban areas is very limited while on the Northern lights tours.
Even with the best of guides and a detailed forecast, sightings are never guaranteed. If we don’t find any lights while on tour, you can join us again another day for free (upon our availability). You will not be entitled to get a refund, though.
A refund is only possible if the tour never operates while you are in Iceland and you never get the chance to join the tour which sometimes happens due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The tour is operated in a minibus and does not exceed more than 19 passengers.
Availability for tour cannot be checked without making a booking. Credit cards will only be charged upon confirmation of shown availability.
This tour takes place at night, please dress up accordingly with warm garments. Bring along a hat, gloves and a scarf. Waterproof clothing is always recommended while touring around Iceland.

An Excellent Trip that will Maximise your Chances of Seeing an Uncertain Phenomenon

We had an excellent time with Saevar (Simon) on the Northern Lights guided tour. It's important to acknowledge that these kinds of trip largely come down to luck, and be willing to accept that failure is very possible, but we felt that every possible accommodation was made by EastWest. Saevar was very capable when it came to reading the weather, tracking the northern lights using scientific means and finding spots sheltered from the wind & light pollution with good parking and good views. The bus was very comfortable and as a small group experience on a smaller bus it could get to places that larger coaches couldn't, very important for an activity like this! EastWest are organised enough to provide a numberplate in advance which made it very easy to handle the bus stop, some of those with other companies were getting very confused! Saevar was highly entertaining and knowledgeable, providing us with amusing anecdotes of his time a a guide, a breakdown of the cultural relevance of the lights and an explanation of the science behind the phenomenon. In our case, we got incredibly lucky and the lights showed up almost immediately. It was a beautiful sight! We were provided with woolen blankets, hot chocolate and pastries. Saevar also took high quality photos of both the landscape, and our portrait! (Unfortunatley too large in file size to upload here). Definitely one of the highlights of my Icelandic holiday!

Amazing experience! Our original night was cancelled due to the weather and rescheduled for 2 days later. I would recommend booking this for your first night so you have more dates to potentially reschedule to. The weather was too cloudy apparently. On the night we did go you could definitely see stars in the sky so clearer. Our driver Eugene was very friendly and knowledgeable about the lights. We left at 9.15pm and we're back at 1am. The lights were definitely stronger as the night got later so I'm glad we stayed out. Provided hot chocolate and blankets were nice. Eugene took lots of pictures and tried his best to make the experience great.

Fantastic Northern Lights Experience with EastWest

Our group consisted of 2 females, visiting Iceland for the first time. We did the Northern Lights tour with EastWest in Feb 2025 and would highly recommend it (both the tour and EastWest as the operator). Some impressions: - We ended up doing the tour 3 separate times because we were unable to catch the lights on the first 2 nights. EastWest has a generous policy where (if your tour is unsuccessful) you are able to rebook the tour on another night anytime within the next 2 years. We were very happy to have been able to catch the lights on our third try. - Baldvin and Simon were excellent guides, funny, entertaining, and informative. Apart from that, we also appreciated the company's commitment to safety. All the guides were safe drivers, provided reminders to keep buckled up when the bus was in motion, and to keep away from the roads when other cars were passing. - High resolution photos were provided after the trip. I had to reduce the photo quality for my review because the photo exceeded TripAdvisor's photo size limits. - It gets really cold, so dress warmly! Hot chocolate and Icelandic donuts were provided midway through the trip. Truly a magical experience!

Northern Lights are worth the cold and wind

We did a Northern Lights tour with Devin. He was great, knowledgeable and fun to be around for the entire night. I thought we were only going to see faint light trails and I would have been satisfied. Devin was following his meteorology radar and past knowledge, that finally, after 3 tries, we saw fantastic Northern Lights. It was worth getting back to the hotel at 2 am after the light show we saw that night.
