We had the most amazing, informative and enjoyable tour of Mumbai which gave us a real sense of the sights, sounds and colours of the city. Kamlesh is a fantastic guide - a generous host, very kind, considerate and professional. The 6am early start was brilliant and very necessary to get to the markets and see them in full flow. We saw the vegetable and flower sellers and experienced the bustle and true snapshot of this aspect of life. Kamlesh then took us to see the major sights, such as Gateway of India and Gandhi's House Museum; all the while giving us insightful commentary - not only about what we were seeing but about Mumbai culture and life in general. And all of this when it had been Holi the day before and he had had very little sleep! Nothing was too much trouble and Kamlesh really moulded the itinerary to what we wanted to see and experience ( eg Leopold cafè). He even persuaded us to try Masala chai from a ( trusted) street vendor - he was v sensitive about our nervousness but we trusted him and it was totally delicious. (And we didnt get ill because he was confident in the process and insisted on paper cups for our Western stomachs!) By the end of the (long) day we felt very satisfied that we had maximised our time and were so impressed with Kamlesh that we booked another tour for the following day. He worked with our hotel concierge on timings and itinerary to give us the best experience again. ( slum tour and Bollywood - chalk and cheese!) We will post separately about the next day which was equally brilliant.
We can't recommend Kamlesh highly enough. A very kind and professional man who shared his Mumbai with us with flair and generosity.
