Hotel pick up around 7:30am - 8:30am and drive to Huanghuacheng Great Wall The slightly less famous Huanghuacheng section of the wall is 65 km from Beijing in Huanghuacheng Town. This 10,800-meter section of the wall is the strongest and most well built, with six forts guarding six passes, twelve beacon towers, and thirty-two watchtowers. Ming Dynasty General Cai Kai supervised its construction. It takes 2 hours drive to the huanghuacheng great wall, Less renovated Wall where you can have a glimpse of the wild Wall. Less visited and quieter. You can do 1,5 hour hiking along the wall. The current unrestored condition of the wall here made it quite tricky to climb The wall is quite steep and the surface is very slippery with many loose bricks. It needs more physical demanding since some part of this section is un-renovated and keeps a wild condition. By the end of tour, you will walk through the rugged rock pass then down to a lovely village down the hill which give you a vivid impression of rural life with all the farm lands, horse and donkey.

My friend and I booked this tour and Peter was our guide, together with Han, the driver. Peter was very knowledgeable of the history of the places we visited and took care of us really well. Peter also spoke English good English. The Great Wall was amazingly breathtaking and so awesome. There was no tourist crowd except for a handful at different times and at different locations. So glad I booked this tour.
Don't miss this excursion from Beijing!

We were picked up promptly at our Beijing hotel in a nice Toyota sedan by a driver and Lucy our wonderful guide for the day. Lucy provided great background information about Beijing as we wove through city traffic. Riding in any car is an adventure here. Drivers weave in and out of other cars, bikes, pedestrians, etc. and yet you never see a wreck. Just relax and enjoy the ride. Ee emerged from the smog of Beijing into a sunny day and a small village northeast of Beijing. It was a strenuous climb up stairs and then a rough/steep trail behind a house and there we were on the Great Wall of China. WOW! the view included a lake with a high dam below us and multiple mountains with the Great Wall snaking its way over the peaks. Just spectacular. I'm scared of open/outdoor heights and yet I was fine at the large flat guard house where we entered. I stayed put and enjoyed the amazing view while my companion and Lucy, our guide, climbed to the top of the mountain on the wall. it took them about 45 minutes round-trip clambering over slippery rocks on a very steep slope. my companion loved the experience but said it was definitely a challenge. She loved it. After we descended to our awaiting car we stopped at a local restaurant where we saw them pluck trout from a stream and enjoyed a delicious meal of fresh local Chinese food. We could never have experienced this without Lucy to find this place and order for us. Thank you Lucy! Our tour continued to the Ming Tombs, it's like the Egyptian Valley of the Kings but in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. Another wow experience. we descended deep into the underground Tomb of one of the Ming emperors and saw amazing treasures and temples. we completed our tour walking the distance of the sacred way, an avenue lined with amazing sculptures placed to pay respect to the emperors as their funeral processions passed through 600 years ago. Its a beautiful walk! our day concluded with a drive back into the city midafternoon. We can't say enough good things about Lucy. It was as if we had a crash course in Chinese history with spectacular sights and good food. This was a great tour but plan on strenuous walking and hundreds of steep steps and some rigorous climbing if you decide to go up the wall to the top of the mountain. Thank you, Lucy, for a great tour experience.
