Infamous for its eruption on June 10th, 1886, Mt Tarawera created the world’s youngest geothermal valley of Waimangu, at the same time destroying the legendary Pink and White Terraces. This fully guided walking experience encompasses the unique landscape and history of the area. With unmatched scenic vistas and 360 panoramic views this experience is ideal for all ages and includes an optional scree run in to the heart of the volcanic crater.

If you are in Rotorua, the hike up Mt. Tarawera is a must-do if you are physically able. Not gonna lie - it’s a bit strenuous at times, but doable if you are moderately fit and coordinated. Our guides were Chucky and Deborah. Both were awesome. Enjoyed hearing about the Māori history of the area from Chucky

Epic adventure with incredible views. We had Chucky and Taiwera as our guides. Both brilliant and a wonderful representation of New Zealand. Both are locals, who showcase the best of Maori. Knowledgeable, beautiful, great sense of humour and adventure and they really took care of us all. Chucky also is the Queen of taking fantastic photos.
