Overview
Private Tours are designed to allow you to discover the D-Day sites in optimal conditions. Each circuit is indeed preceded by a "briefing" which will allow us first of all to get to know each other, then to contextualize the events of June 6, 1944. This moment may also be an opportunity for you to express specific requests. For example linked to the story of a member of your family who fought in Normandy.
The "small group" format also allows you to adapt the pace of the visit to your own needs and desires.
If the price of admission to the museums ("Airborne Museum" in Sainte Mère Eglise, "Utah beach Museum" on Utah beach, "D-Day Experience" near Carentan) is not included in the price, the circuits are however designed to allow you to take advantage of this opportunity and devote about an hour to visiting one of these (you will also benefit from the reduced rate granted to Memory Tracks).
Itinerary
Sainte-Mere-Eglise
Our first stop will be the village of Sainte-Mère-Eglise, which has become the symbol par excellence of the American airborne operation. On site, we will begin with a briefing over a coffee or tea in order to review the events that took place there the night of June 5 to 6, 1944. We will then take the time to discover the heart of the village: the Church, the central square, the German command post, the Hospice (which was used by the paratroopers as an infirmary)...
1 hour
La Fiere Bridge and Iron Mike Monument
After Sainte-Mère-Eglise we will take the road west to reach the hamlet and the La Fière bridge, one of the main objectives of the 82nd Airborne. From June 6 to 9, this place was marked by very violent combat between American paratroopers and elements of the German 91st Infantry Division, determined to keep control of this crossing point on the Merderet.
30 minutes
N/A
A few kilometers away, we will go to a small road in the Normandy countryside, at the very place where the spontaneous action of a small group of men from the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment caused the death of German General Wilhelm Falley - commander of the 91st Infantry Division - hastily returned from Rennes at the announcement of the first Allied parachute drops.
40 minutes
Neuville-au-Plain
Located 2 km north of Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Neuville-au-Plain is a pretty little Norman village (with less than 100 inhabitants!) where during the day of June 6, 1944, Lieutenant Turnbull and his little group of paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne.
25 minutes
Ravenoville
A little away from the small village of Ravenoville, Ferme Marmion was, on the morning of June 6, 1944, the scene of fierce fighting between German soldiers and a group of paratroopers from the 101st Airborne. It is in this farm - which has not undergone any transformation since June 1944 - that some of the photos that have remained among the most emblematic and famous of D-Day were taken.
20 minutes
Utah Beach
After this route in the heart of the Cotentin, we will reach the coast and Utah beach, the beach where the first wave of the 4th American Infantry Division set foot at 06:30 sharp.
Infinitely more peaceful than 79 years ago, the landscape remains marked by history.
While evoking together the course of the amphibious operation, you will be able to walk through the dunes and discover the remains of the German defense system - bunkers, anti-tank wall... - set up to prevent the success of the Allied assault. In vain, because on the evening of June 6, 1944, no less than 23,000 American soldiers will have landed on this beach.
For the vast majority of our customers - often established outside France -, visiting the battlefields of Normandy is an almost unique event in their lives. Also, in order to give them the opportunity to also discover the museum collections that evoke D-Day in the parachute drop zones and in Utah, we give them the possibility of devoting about an hour and a half to the visit of one sector museums presenting the operations of June 6, 1944 and exhibiting important collections of uniforms, equipment, vehicles and materials. If you wish, you will have the choice between three museums:
- The "Airborne Museum", in Sainte-Mere-Eglise;
- The Utah beach museum, on the beach where the attack took place;
- The "D-Day experience Museum", north of Carentan.
The visit to a museum being optional, the entrance fee is not included in the circuit. But you will benefit from the reduced rate granted to Memory Tracks.

Franck was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history. He gave us numerous insights. I don’t think we could’ve had a better guide or a better experience would very highly recommend booking with him.
Best tour ever learning about the LGOPs!

We had the best day with Franck! I’m a former US Army Paratrooper and have always wanted to see where my paratrooper granddads did the amazing things they did.
I learned so much, Franck was enjoyable and very knowledgeable about the battles and locations. It was amazing to see where the LGOPs did their best.
We enjoyed the day and even invited him to lunch with us. Go with Franck for this tour you won’t be disappointed.
This is the one and only D-Day tour you need

The D-Day tour with Franck was the highlight of our trip to France! I have been passionately learning about D-Day and WW2 my whole life and the opportunity to come to Normandy with my Mom and sister was a dream come true. We knew we wanted to start our week staying at the beaches with a private tour. Luckily, after lots of searching I found Franck’s company Memory Tracks. We booked a private 82nd and 101st Airborne tour. Franck was very communicative before the booking and picked us up in is very clean and comfortable tour van the morning of the tour. The tour beyond exceeded my expectations which was all due in part to Franck. He was so knowledgeable, kind, and engaged with us the entire tour. He was very good at simplifying the and sights for my mom and sister (who were learning about D-Day for the first time) while also answering more detailed questions from me. The selection of sight he took us to where perfect as the really highlighted personal stories of the people involved and visually still bore reminders of the War. Franck was very in tune with our interests and needs and was very patient and good at giving us options to choose the next stop. We never felt rushed, and felt like the tour was really customized for us. What I also loved about the tour was that it avoided the most popular and basic locations and instead got off the beaten path to see places that had amazing stories and held lots of importance during the invasion. Franck also brought a valuable perspective as someone who has grown up and lived in the Normandy region for his whole life which really added to our experience as he knowledge went far beyond just D-Day. Spending the day with Franck was the highlight of our trip, it really but the rest of our stay in perspective and gave us ideas of how to spend the rest of our time in Normandy. Franck, is amazing at what he does and anyone visiting the area should look no further and do any tour with Memory Tracks.
In depth, in every respect !

Superb personal in-depth level of historical overview of Overlord, combined with anecdotal stories that added true passion to the challenges of the War.

Franck is absolutely amazing. This is a tour you MUST do. Franck is so knowledgeable about D Day he gives you a lesson in history to put things in context. The stories he tells you are so captivating and he has pictures from WWII events and then takes you to where those pictures were taken. I can't thank him enough for making this day so special for me and my husband. Just do it!!!
