AMAZING first day in China with Amanda at Catherine Lu Travels!
Published on Nov, 2019
Amanda was the BEST!!!! Booking tours with Catherine Lu before even leaving home was SO easy and we were more than impressed with the car and driver that picked us up, the details of the day flawlessly planned in advance but then executed perfectly by Amanda!!!! Amanda was our tour guide for this first day private excursion as well as the following day to the Great Wall & Ming Tombs. We could not have been happier with the entire experience over both days and were super bummed the next day when were on our own without Amanda. It would have been super difficult to navigate Beijing on our won not knowing any Chinese, never having been to China, trying to arrange all day travel, meals, purchasing tickets to the tour stops, etc. Amanda constantly checked in with us to see if we wanted to stay in some places longer, leave sooner to move on to the next, add on other things if we had spare time in our day etc. She also had some great recommendations for us during our time in the city. Amanda truly made us super excited for the rest of our trip (which was a little over 2 weeks in total) she was super knowledgeable and thoughtful or our time and what we were interested in, willing to discuss more than just what we saw but historical questions we had as well as questions we had about China's culture in general and she was FUN!! And she even had a little surprise for us at the end of the day that we were able to take home with us - I'm not telling because I don't want to ruin it for others!! You can't go wrong when booking ANY tour with Catherine Lu!!
Beijing minus forbidden city.
Published on Sep, 2019
Private tour organised by Catherine Lu tours. Forbidden city and Tiananmen areas are closed due to preparations for the 70th national day, we decided to customize our own itinerary since there were limited tours available that didn't involved visiting tourist shopping traps. Comfortable private car with driver allowed us to go to 3 attractions in one day at a leisurely pace, have what we wanted to eat for lunch. Thank you to our guide Nico and our driver for the day.
Wonderful day tour of Beijing with Amanda
Published on Sep, 2019
Amanda was a superb tour guide. Her English was excellent; she was very knowledgeable; and, most impressive, she was so empathetic to our needs. We toured Beijing on an exceptionally hot summer day and were wilting in the heat. We hadn't planned a lunch break but Amanda quickly found a fun restaurant for us so we could eat and cool off. She shared with us an amazing amount of history about each place that was easy to understand and she also helped us understand the contemporary city, explaining, for example, the hutong neighborhoods to us. I especially enjoyed our walk through those alleys, as she talked about the architecture and we nodded to the people of the neighborhood. I enthusiastically recommend Amanda as a guide to everyone.
