Itinerary

Bell and Drum Towers

The tour guide will pick you up from your hotel at Beijing downtown area, then drive to Drum Tower, a symbol of Beijing's rich heritage. Immerse yourself in the history and architectural splendor of this ancient structure as we witness the mesmerizing views of the cityscape from its elevated position. The Drum Tower is an ancient building that dates back to 1272, during the reign of Kublai Khan, and was located in the heart of the Yuan capital Dadu. Originally called the Tower of Orderly Administration (Qizhenglou), it underwent renovations during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In 1420, during the reign of the Yongle Emperor of the Ming dynasty, the tower was rebuilt to the east of its original location. Then, in 1800, during the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor of the Qing dynasty, the building underwent large-scale renovations. Today, the Drum Tower is a popular tourist attraction in Beijing, known for its impressive architecture and cultural significance.

Shichahai is a popular scenic spot in Beijing, situated close to the north gate of Beihai Park. The lakes are surrounded by towering trees, offering a tranquil escape from the bustling city. During the summer, visitors enjoy renting boats to paddle around the lakes, while in the winter, it is a popular spot for ice-skating.

Our next destination is the charming Nanluogu Hutong, a vibrant alleyway teeming with cultural gems and hidden treasures. Walk through its narrow lanes lined with trendy boutiques, quaint cafes, and traditional architecture, gaining insights into the local way of life. After exploring the Hutong, it's time to treat your taste buds to a culinary delight. We will start a yummy foodie tour to taste those famous Beijing snacks food one by one, we will try Beijing Zhajiangmian noodle, Chinese dumpling, Jianbing Guozi(Crispy pancake). There are many bars nearby, you can enjoy your fabulous Beijing night here.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable, flexible, and patient. She offered a lot of great ideas for shopping gifts, sovenoirs and information about the area religions, culture, history, and architecture. She was even able to get me in a secured area to view. The walk was normal pace and great exercise. I highly recommend this guide and the tour. It will show you the hidden back street night life and capitalism in Beijing.

This was really good to get a feel of the local markets in Beijing. I was solo on this tour and had the guide to myself which was great. The guide assisted with bartering of prices and understanding of what the food on display was! Great guide with local knowledge.

I just spent a wonderful evening walking through many nice neighborhoods in Beijing, from Wangfujing Street, past many colorful street food vendors with exotic food, through nice parks with tree-lined sidewalks, past the Bell Tower and Drum Tower Culture Square, and finally winding in and out the Hutongs that branch off from Beihai Lake, with beautiful sunset and night views of all the colorful shops, restaurants and neon-lit bars. My guide, Kitty, was charming and knowledgeable. She is from Beijing and gave me a great tour that I would highly recommend to anyone. I really enjoyed her company and stories, and the pace of our walk was perfect.
