Itinerary

The Thai cooking class starts at the local Khao Lak market. Here you will choose the ingredients for your Thai dishes, learn about Thai herbs and spices and catch a glimpse of the daily hustle and bustle of local market life. It's time to prepare and cook your dishes. This is where the fun really begins. The cooking chef Apple will teach you how to prepare your ingredients the Thai way. Starting with basic curry pastes and Thai seasonings, then cooking techniques before finally creating your impressive Thai meal. After learning to cook your Thai food there is one more important step in creating a Thai meal to impress your friends. You need to present it in an appetising manner and you will even learn some simple food carving tricks. Then you all dine together in true Thai style and try all the other delicious dishes the class has cooked. I’m getting hungry just thinking about this. All the fresh ingredients which are used for the Khao Lak Thai cooking class are sourced locally, fresh from the daily market. You will shop with no-plastic bags. Any left over food waste is turned in compost which is used in the herb garden at Riverside.

A MUST IN KHAO LAK

What a little dynamo Apple is. Every moment of this entire experience was a delight ... from the very informative visit to the local fresh market to the actual food preparation. The lovely purpose-built kitchen is set adjacent to a palm grove & Apple grows much of the fresh produce herself. The small "international" group of 7 gelled quickly & over much laughter prepared a feast of 7 different dishes which we shared. Thank you Apple & your 2 lovely assistants for a sensational journey into genuine Thai cooking. Diana & Geoff (Australia)

My wife, Karen, bought this cooking course as a birthday surprise for myself, we both attended along with 5 others so 7 of us in total, the cross section of people was fantastic, 1 from Germany, 2 from Australia and 4 from England, the whole experience was magical, we visited the local market to purchase fresh herbs and spices, this on its own was fantastic, then we were transported to Apple’s beautiful kitchen situated in the most idyllic location, here Apple and her team orchestrated the rest of the experience, cooking 7 different dishes, all were superb. Our group gelled so well and the whole morning was an absolute joy, if you are looking to try a little Thai cooking then Apple and the Riverside Thai cooking class is an absolute must. First class, superb, there aren’t enough superlatives to describe how much we enjoyed the day Thank you to Apple and her team and Ric for being our chauffeur and also thanks to the other ‘Chefs’ (Chef’s in the loosest terms) for all just ‘mucking in’

Scrumptious & fun coking class

Fabulous cooking class. The morning session includes a trip to a market to look at local produce. 7 attendees in our class = 7 scrumptious dishes plus banana & chocolate spring rolls and pork & herb spring rolls. Apple is a fun teacher. Learnt so much. So lovely sitting as a group eating all the food. Highly recommend.

The cooking class was a really great experience. Apple is such an enthusiastic and cool person. The market tour was really interesting. Cooking with her and her girls was so much fun and the food was delicious. They all made us feel so welcomed and we had such a great time with them.

This cooking class was absolutely fantastic! Apple was so knowledgeable on every Thai dish that you could even imagine. We learnt so much, and made absolutely everything from scratch. This included a trip to the market to see the local produce that we would then cook with later. Apple and her team were amazing, so helpful and made it such a fun afternoon! Would HIGHLY recommend this class. We made so many dishes and they all tasted fantastic. We were so full at the end! Thanks so much Apple!
