Overview

Enjoy an easy, culturally-enriching bus trip from Osaka to Kyoto. The tour starts with a magical train ride on the Sagano Romantic Train to Arashiyama and takes you to the UNESCO world heritage site of Kiyomizu-dera, finishing the journey with a visit to the Fushimi Inari Shrine.   • Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine

    Enjoy Fushimi Inari Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the guardian deity of agriculture, Fushimi-Inari. Experience the wonder of walking through the seemingly endless vermillion torii gates, and see if you can spot the fox statues in the shrine, who are said to be spiritual messengers.

  • Arashiyama

    Meet your expert guide and visit Arashiyama, which has been a popular nature-viewing destination since the Heian Period. Take a stroll through the cool Sagano Bamboo Forest and listen to the distinct rustle of bamboo leaves as you walk. You can also see the "moon-crossing bridge," Togetsukyo, as you walk along the beautiful Katsura River.

  • Kiyomizu-dera Temple

    The Japanese proverb “jumping off the stage at Kiyomizu” means “to take a risk,” and the temple's iconic wooden stage, dramatically extending over the hillside, brings this saying to life. The stage of the UNESCO-listed temple, which was built without using a single nail and is supported by 139 pillars, boasts a wide view overlooking Kyoto and the beautiful surrounding nature. You can also drink from one of the three rejuvenating streams of Otowa Waterfall, said to bring success, love, and longevity. This temple is famous for the cherry blossoms in spring and the foliage in autumn.

Beautiful sights, easy to get to

The train ride itself is rather short and crowded but has beautiful scenery!! This tour is the best way to see all of the rural sights as they take you to them by bus all day long! Definitely worth the money to not have to use public transpiration to get to these. The hardest part is finding the train through the bamboo forest. The map provided is not very good and many on the tour were lost and some almost didn’t make the train in time due to this.

Great tour! Our guide, Hama, was wonderful and spoke English well. It was easy to find our starting point, the itinerary was easy to follow. The buffet lunch was good. There were plenty of opportunities to venture off on own, we didn't have to follow the group the whole time. We were given time to explore and shop at each destination. It was hot and humid, but the bus was air-conditioned and comfortable. Fair warning - there is lots of walking!!
