Overview

Experience an unforgettable afternoon as you head north from Lisbon to the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Landscape of Sintra. Admire the Royal Palace, the best preserved medieval palace in Portugal. Located in Sintra Village itself, the Royal Palace was inhabited continuously from the 15th century through the late 19th century, and was the summer playground of Portuguese royalty. You'll identify the palace's hallmark conical chimneys, and appreciate the rich collection of azulejos, or glazed tiles. continues as we pass through the lush gardens of Parque Natural Sintra-Cascais, making our way to Cabo da Roca (from March to October), the westernmost point in continental Europe. Then soak in ocean sights as we journey along the coast, passing Guincho Beach, a windsurfing favorite, and Boca do Inferno (November to February), a natural grotto created by the sea. Upon reaching Cascais, you'll enjoy the view overlooking the bay.

    The Boca do Inferno is an interesting cliff formation close to Cascais, which has been given an overly dramatic name of Hell’s Mouth. The ceaseless pounding of the Atlantic Ocean on the cliffs chiselled out a small cave, which subsequently collapsed forming a small bay and natural arch. (november to february - winter schedule)

I really enjoyed this trip and all the knowledge that our guide had. We were able.to explore on our own and in the group. We made friends with other people on the tour it was amazing.

Our tour guide Doego is very educated and professional his English and Spanish are very professional, took good care of us, have us very interesting information, the driver was very careful and the road was narrow and winding. We won't hesitate to go again with them

A great half day tour from Lisbon

Our guide was very knowledgeable, commenting on the sites we visited and the regions we drove through, even indicating the link between Ian Fleming and Estoril. She pointed out the two pastries local to Sintra (travesseiro and queija) that we should try from a local shop. There was a variety of places visited on the trip including a guided tour of the Palácio Nacional de Sintra steeped in Portuguese history, Cabo da Roca (the most Westerly place on mainland Europe) and Cascais town. Views of the crashing waves of the Atlantic as we drove through the countryside were spectacular.

The tour guide was wonderful, she shared a lot of great info, in 3 languages, but doing it in an entertaining manner. The coach driver provided a smooth riding experience. And the scenery at each of our stops was beautiful.
