Overview

Go beyond New Orleans to tour two grand Louisiana plantations on the banks of the Mississippi River. At Whitney Plantation, see the harsh realities and raw historical facts of a dark side of American history. The slave narratives and artwork recreate the world of a pre-Civil War southern sugar plantation and memorial in honor of the lives of the enslaved people who toiled there. Take a short drive down the Great River Road, admiring other plantations from afar and learning their unique stories. Pause in front of Oak Alley Plantation's famous oak-lined esplanade before arriving at your last stop, Laura Plantation. Hear personal stories of those who lived there, surrounded by sweeping sugarcane fields and historically significant slave quarters. Plantation Tours

The day trip to the plantation was a truely great tour. We were picked up at our accommodation and the day ran seamlessly. Giselle was a wonderful host, thoughtful and very informative. Her knowledge of the history of NOLA was terrific and she was so happy to share and discuss it. She was also a very kind and caring person. We visited both Laura and Whitney plantations. They were both impressive in different ways. The Laura plantation with the architecture and stories of the families who lived there was interesting. Whitney Plantation was an amazing educational journey, telling about the lives and treatment of the enslaved. It was tragic and sad but so eye opening and necessary. Thankyou for a wonderful day Gizelle

This tour was amazing! Our tour guide was Giselle and she killed it. Driving out to these plantations is quite a drive and there wasn’t a moment Giselle didn’t have us laughing or learning something. Her extensive knowledge not only on the plantations but the city of New Orleans gave us more than what we bargained for. She made everyone on the tour feel so comfortable together answering any questions we had from history to food recommendations. I highly recommend this tour and will be telling any friends or family they have to do this in New Orleans.
