Without paying too much, you're able to experience the wild and Great Wall at Jingshanling. Far from the tourists and crowds. Moderate hiking 6km from middle gate of Jinshanling to east gate (from 1 April to 31 October). Unguided self-hiking will enable you to have all the time by yourself. Not obliged to catch up with a big tour group or being forced to enter some shops.

Hotel pick-up is available for hotels less than 2km from metro station Nan Luo Gu Xiang. Each group may consist of 2 or 3 different parties. Morning pick-up is done in turn from 07:45 a.m. , and pick-up time to be reconfirmed one day in advance. Itinerary

Jinshanling Great Wall

07:30-08:30 Pick-up from your centrally located hotel in Beijing (less than 2km from metro station Nan Luo Gu Xiang.) or the meeting point, then drive directly to Jinshanling Great Wall, which is 136km away from center of Beijing. 10:15-10:30 Arriving at Jinshanling Great Wall. Start your hiking about 3.7 miles (6km). Your driver will arrange ticket for you and you will be free after the entrance. You have approximately 3 hours on the Great Wall. Get down the Great Wall from "East Five Window Tower" (between 1 April and 31 Oct). Walk along the small path in the mountain for about 20 minutes before you get out from East Gate of Jinshanling. The driver will wait for you at the parking lot out of East Gate. NOTICE: Between 1 November and 31 March, you would have to enter and exit from the same gate (middle gate). ATTENTION: This is an UNGUIDED tour WITHOUT LUNCH (texts in "overview" and "highlights" are old and out of date and unchangeable. Please read carefully the tour details.)

Jinshanling part of the Great Wall was so quiet. Had the wall to ourselves for a killometers. Also the wall winds across so many hills, ridges, crests and was so picturesque. Jackie the driver and car were great too.

Excellent day and wonderful section of the Great Wall (very quiet and able to connect to nature). You can see the wall stretch for miles, it is a beautiful site. Would highly recommend for those who enjoy nature, quieter wall section, and hiking (it is steep on some sections).

views were so good! so much better than badaling wall. jackie was great and looked after us well. they picked us up right from our hotel. we had a great time!

This is the perfect day trip if you are looking at hiking a section of the wall far from the massive crowds of tourists. It’s 2 hour drive from the city (with no traffic) but very worth it. Pick up was smooth and Jacky was the best and the minivan comfortable. I really loved the unguided aspect of it so you can really go at your own rhythm. Just one piece of advice if it’s your first time hiking the wall: you really need to be fit as there are a LOT of VERY steep climbing and stairs as you walk 22 stations. On the way down there are also a lot of stairs. I à an experienced and regular hiker and my legs took quite a stroll on that day lol The sceneries are just magnificent. One of my best hiking day ever.

Glad we paid to go further afield to Jinshangling as it wasn't busy. Enjoyed going along the wall at own pace rather than feeling rushed due to the crowds. Breathtaking scenery, and a must if visiting Beijing. Jackie our driver, and English speaking was informative and took great care of the group we were in as we all had different abilities. The minibus was clean and comfortable, I even managed 40 winks along the way. We contemplated paying to hire a taxi for the day but for us this was the better option. Only disappointment was the cable car wasn't operating that day.
