Green Island offers the unique opportunity for a combined reef and rainforest experience, just 45 minutes from Cairns by fast catamaran. Home to over 120 native plant species and colourful bird life, surrounded by abundant marine life. Full and half day options available. Your day can be as active or as relaxing as you choose. As a Great Adventures guest, you’ll also be able to enjoy many exclusive inclusions such as the use of the island swimming pool and a self guided eco island walk to discover some of the island’s unique rainforest flora. The island’s well appointed day visitor facilities include a pool bar, plus restaurant and retail outlets. A delicious range of lunch and snacks can be purchased from the island’s food and refreshment outlets.

We added on snorkeling...

We added on snorkeling with a tour guide to our experience once we arrived on The Great Barrier Reef. Would highly recommend doing so. Had a perfect day and really enjoyed ourselves.

This tour was THE BEST!!! The glass bottom boat was cool - the driver was funny and very knowledgeable and the view under the water was great! And he fed some fish was was great to see. The only negative thing was it was 35 degrees and there is nowhere to wait in the shade for the boat. Recommend an umbrella for the very hot days. The snorkelling was so fun - we could go anywhere on Green Island and we just happened to swim with soooo many colourful fish, jellyfish, a few giant turtles and even some reef sharks. Highly recommend the stinger suits and a go pro. It's worth the hiring fee. VERY COOL!

We booked this as part of an overall experience on a bigger boat. We first went to Green Island where we snorkelled in the crystal clear waters before drying off and heading back to the boat. We had about 1/2 hour after lunch before we went on the glass bottom boat which was fabulous. The amount of fish we saw was amazing and the boat operator told us about the different coral, fish, sea urchins etc, only issue......it was too short, only 1/2 hour. We seen some turtles off to the side of the boat....bonus.

Fantastic day out despite some variable weather. I see some reviews are critical of the snorkelling, but we found that you just have to go out a bit further than most people seemed to - keep heading out to about 50-100m off shore from the beach where the water gets a bit deeper and you get to proper reef, and it is stunning! We saw so many fish and corals, plus swam with two sea turtles! Island facilities are basic but functional - it’s an eco-tourism project in a rainforest on a sandy cay, not a five-star, human-first luxury experience. Transfers were easy and the ferry ride out to the island was fun. Loved it so much we’re going back again tomorrow.

We are older guys, worried about can we manage the visit. Turn out we had good time got great barrier reef views on glass bottom boat , walk around, and swimming (warm water and smooth sand) on green island ,
