Itinerary

  • Tipu Sultan Fort and Palace - Bangalore KR Market

After meeting and greeting, the Govt. of India Approved and licensed guide shall accompany you and show Tipu Palace. Its a 230 year old palace, all in teak wood, and built in typical Islamic architecture, showing the diwas-e-am and diwan-e-khas. Also, a brief history of Tipu Sultan, his trysts with the French, the Anglo-Mysore wars, his contributions and controversies shall all be discussed. A visit to the Museum in the premises throws more light on how he came to be known as the Grandfather of Rocket Science in the whole world!

    30 minutes

  • Kote Venkataramana Temple

This temple is adjoining the Tipu Palace. It was built in 1690 AD by Chikkadevaraja Wodeyar and showcases wonderful stone sculptures of Indian mythological characters on its walls. The highly carved and ornate stone columns inside the temple reflect high quality workmanship of our artists. Hindu devotees have to book months in advance to offer "Kalyanotsava" (marriage ceremony of Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi) in this temple. It is said that the Garuda Gamba of this temple saved Tipu Sultan from a cannon ball attack from Cornwallis which would have otherwise fell on his palace. The next stop is the Bangalore Fort which is a 10 minute walk from here.

    30 minutes

  • Bangalore Fort

Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore, built a mud fort in the 16th CE which was rebuilt in stone by Hyder Ali in 1760s. Only about 5% of this Fort remains and is now open to visitors. Very neatly maintained, this largely unknown monument is worth visiting.

If you ever wanted to see typical India in action, this is the place. There is enough and more in this Market and its environs for all your sensory organs. Vendors, workers, coolies, hawkers, buyers, cows, dogs, cylces, rickshaws, bikes, scooters, etc jostle for space with each other. Heaps of vegetables, fruits, flowers, spices, etc are found everywhere. But there is order, in this disorder! Come and experience this pulsating and throbbing Indian Market of essentials.

Jainism is one the oldest religions of the world, originating in India, with at least a 2500 year old history. It is in fact, a religion contemporary to Buddhism. The principle tenets of Jainism are - Non-violence and Vegetarianism. The Jain community forms less than 0.4% of India's population but they contribute more than 24% to personal tax collections in the country. Jains own more than 28% Indian property and has the highest literacy rate at 94%. Nearly half of India's stockbrokers are Jains. Their contribution to the success of Indian business houses is worth its weight in gold. Entry to a Jain temple is subjected to certain conditions and restrictions.

Excellent tour and guide

Published on Mar, 2025

Great day with a group of 3 on the tour with an excellent guide Vasuki KR. He was professional, knowledgeable, passionate and very friendly. All venues were well worth visiting. Thoroughly recommend this as a way to spend half a day in Bengaluru

Great way to see Bangalore

Published on Mar, 2025

We had Vasuki as our tour guide and couldn't have asked for a better experience. He offered a great informative tour that allowed us to see key sites and learn great history. Vasuki was very thoughtful and knowledgeable, and always asked how he can go above and beyond, he even helped tell us best places to take pictures! After the tour we all had some delicious coffee and even guided us to a great silk shop per our request to make sure we got good prices on our items. Couldn't recommend this tour enough!

Best way to see the city

A great way to see the city and learn the history! Mr. Govinda was very knowledgeable and showed us many of the beautiful buildings—the temples were truly beautiful and we were able to go inside. We also really liked seeing all the markets. Highly recommend

Wonderful guide! interesting tour

Published on Mar, 2025

I really enjoyed this tour, mostly because of the Tour Guide, Vasuki. I found him to be entertaining, a great storyteller, interesting and engaging, and just genuinely concerned for the well-being of his tourist guests. I had gone shopping earlier and had no time to return to my hotel to drop off bags so I had to carry my heavy bags with me. Upon my arrival, he immediately took some of my bags, even though I did not ask him. I was totally prepared to spend the entire time carrying the heavy bags. I thought that it was very thoughtful of him to take on a load that was not his nor was it a planned part of the tour. For me the best part of the tour was the market and the Jain temple. I’ve been to markets in several cities in India now and they never ceases to amaze me. Vasuki was very good about caring for us to stay together and ensuring we bought safe items for travelers, understood market history and culture and were able to partake to some degree. I am a solo female traveler. Ladies be sure to bring something to cover your shoulders and legs for the temple (hence my bags, amongst other things haha) The tour was interesting and Vasuki is a fantastic guide. Plus he has great ideas, is patient about photography and takes great pictures!! At the end of the tour, he even took extra time to take me to a well respected soak market to buy some clothes for my trip to the Taj Mahal the next day. I really appreciate that the people at the business did not pressure me to buy extra when I said no more and the prices were very fair.
