If you are looking for a tour with an English speaking and extremely knowledgeable guide this is it!
We were a party of four and booked this private tour with a very safe and friendly driver named Bennie and a super knowledgeable guide named Javier. We were able to arrange to be picked up at our Airbnb on time.
We arrived at Izmal in the morning when the weather was cooler and before all the big tour buses arrived. Javier provided us with a wealth of information regarding Mayan history as we walked thru the ruins.
The lunch was ample with a choice of a Yucatan entree, dessert and a beverage of your choice.
The Chocolate Story museum was interesting. I enjoyed the animal sanctuary the most which is part of the museum.
You could get a tour around the Centro area for less money, BUT DON’T DO IT. We did book one for Chicken Itzá a few days before but they were very disorganized. The pickup location was changed and we were not contacted. Another passenger waiting had to tell us about the change around four blocks away. The tour was supposed to be in English which was a total surprise to the guide! He had to walk over to us on the bus to tell us in a nutshell what we passed by half an hour ago. We arrived around 2pm at Chichén Itza which was by then 103 degrees.
Do yourself a favor and find out when you will arrive at the ruins. It’s like night and day when you arrive in the cool morning vs in over 100 degree’s afternoon.
