Overview

Take in the sights of Wellington while your cruise ship is in port, and discover one of the world’s most charming capital cities. See where New Zealand’s political leaders rule the country, and visit the Gothic Revival Old St Paul’s Cathedral and other architectural landmarks. Take in views of Wellington from above on a visit to the summit of Mt Victoria, and have the option to take a ride on Wellington’s iconic cable car.

  • Old St Paul's (Pass By)

    Old St Paul’s Cathedral – one of the world’s best examples of Gothic Revival architecture.

  • Lady Norwood Rose Garden (Pass By)

    Then we drive pass the lovely Botanic Gardens and drive through the Lady Norwood Rose Garden,

  • Wellington Cable Car

    iconic Wellington cable car (which first carried passengers in 1902). After you have travelled to the top in the cable car and visited the quaint museum at that end, you will have more breath-taking panoramic views of the harbour and city.

  • Lyall Bay (Pass By)

    drive to Lyall Bay beach, pass Wellington airport and see some of the rugged coast line. On a clear day you may see some spectacular views of the South Island. We pass Barrett’s Reef, where on 10 April 1968 the roll on/roll off ferry Wahine hit the reef and capsized near Seatoun (just a short distance from the shoreline) during a hurricane resulting in 52 lives being lost.

This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Our driver and guide Dennis was passionate about his city and NZ and went over and above to take us to all the Wellington highlights. The tour should only have been 3.5 hours but was actually 5 plus hours as Dennis wanted to ensure we saw all Wellington had to offer.
