Overview

This is a great tour for those who only want to spend a half-day out, are short on time, or want to enjoy a nice sleep-in while on holiday! We visit two areas on this trip, Daintree River and Mossman Gorge. We begin with a drive along the Captain Cook Highway, on the way to the Daintree River, and share a little history along the way. Here, we board a cruise along the Daintree River, looking out for local wildlife, including the estuarine crocodile, snakes, birds, frogs, and more. Enjoy a beer, wine or soft drink with a snack while cruising. After the Wildlife Cruise, we head over to Mossman Gorge. Once in Mossman Gorge National Park, we conduct an interpretive walk along an elevated boardwalk. Weather dependent, we can enjoy a dip in the crystal-clear rainforest stream, whilst being surrounded by the beautiful and healing Mossman Gorge rainforest. What a memorable way to spend an afternoon!

    You will board a cruise along the Daintree River, looking out for all manner of creatures, including the estuarine crocodile, snakes, birds, frogs, and more.

  • Mossman Gorge

    We arrive at Mossman Gorge and your guide will take you on a walk and share their knowledge of the local flora and fauna and answer any questions you may have. This is an easy 500m return walk mostly along boardwalks. You can enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear rainforest stream, which can be quite refreshing, whilst being surrounded by the beautiful and healing Mossman Gorge rainforest. What a great way to spend a morning!

Half Day Daintree Tour.

Our guide for the tour was Cam.Very knowledgeable and good fun.Learnt a lot about the history of the area and forest.Went for a refreshing swim at Mossman Gorge.A great trip.

Great afternoon out

Really enjoyable afternoon out with a very knowledgeable guide. We saw crocodiles in the Daintree and several bids including an osprey fiving for fish. Highlight was probably being able to cool down in the Mossman Gorge in a stifling hot day.

Amazing river tour

The guide was knowledgeable and it was amazing to see the river and rainforest up close. Seeing big crocs is seasonal but the guide managed to find 2 small ones for us.

Wonderful afternoon we were only able to see one small baby crocodile in the Daintree but the ride was beautiful and fun anyway. Mossman Gorge was beautiful would have liked more time to go on a longer walk but it was still an amazing afternoon out

Just got back from our excursion with Daintree Discover Tours. Very happy and wanted to add a few notes for the benefit of some travellers. We are plus size travellers and one with a dicky knee We had no problems with this tour. Our guide was Mel and she really added a lot to the excursion. Lots of info. Answered all our questions. Great sense of humour. Crocodiles are elusive but our river boat guide, Ray found a large one for us named Lumpy in the mangrove. Had a lovely paddle at the Mossman Gorge. Be warned though the “sand” in the water was very rough, like walking on the bottom of a home aquarium. Reef shoes might have been helpful. Nice walk through the rain forest, not too far. An easy walk. Saw lots of lovely flowering tropical plants. Mel pointed out a forest dragon lizard in the trees. I’d recommend this tour for anyone.
