Wonderful Tour and Tour Guide!

We visited Mt Etna & Taormina. This was our favorite tour during our 10 Day cruise. Our guide, Carmelo made the day so enjoyable. He was informative, friendly and very personable. You could tell he loved this beautiful island of Sicily. We had plenty of time to explore the craters of Mt Etna, visited an olive tasting farm and the bustling town of Taormina. Our bus driver, Carmelo & our group made for a perfect visit to Sicily.

We had the best day with Claudia as our guide and Peppe as our driver. Claudia gave us tons of information as we traveled to Mt Etna and was responsive to what we wanted to do and see. Because the weather was so gorgeous we even got to take a hike! Her recommendations for our time in Taormina were perfect for us to enjoy this beautiful town. This was our first time in Sicily and we’d love to come back! 10 stars!

Amazing day tour to Mt Etna & Taorimina

Discover Messina is a professional and wonderful tour operator. They were very proactive with communication of tour details leading up to the trip. The details for the meeting point location was spot on and it was very easy to find them. I did the Mt Etna & Taormina tour. It was fabulous. Our guide Carmelo was very knowledge and shared a lot of history and culture of Sicily. Jacobin (sorry about the spelling) was a great driver too! Carmelo was clear on the itinerary, including restroom stops (and condition). We stopped at a wine, olive and honey place before making the drive/ascent to Mt Etna. The place was great as they explained their products and offered samples. We had just over an hour at Mt Etna. It was incredible. Carmelo gave us suggestions on trails based on comfort level. The view and experience was breathtaking. On the way back to Messina, we stopped at Taormina for 1.5hr. Again, Carmelo shared his favorite local spots for food and explained the layout of the town. He also tipped us off on which restrooms to use. We were thankful at how clean it was :). Fabulous time in Taormina, grateful for the bit of extra time and absolutely loved the cannoli & arancini suggestions. Lastly, it was a nice touch to share the local cookie/biscuit and provide water. Highly recommend the company and tour.

We had an incredible time on this tour from the Messina cruise port. The communication is fantastic. We received a text (whatsApp) as to who and where to meet several days prior to arrival. Carmello is a fabulous guide. He gave a great lesson on the entire island of Sicily, including its Culture, Geography, and History. We learned about the different regions of the island and their regional agriculture. I recommend the fresh orange juice, arancini, and canola (cannoli). As for the mountain, it is frigid and windy. We went in early October. Thank goodness I had my wind Jacket with hat/gloves. We ascended to 2000m, which is about 2/3 of the volcano. Our second stop was Taormina. Our entire group fell in love with its beauty. There are plenty of places to shop, eat, and enjoy the incredible scenic town and coastal views. Sadly, we only had 90 minutes to enjoy it. It may be worth the trip if you have never been to a volcano. If you have been to other places like Hawaii etc... I would suggest more time in Taormina. Safe travels!!

Fantastic adventure on Mount Etna!

Carmelo did an excellent job of being very friendly and personal with everyone. He was very knowledgeable and kept everyone engaged throughout the tour. He had very good control of the group making sure everyone got back at the designated time. When we visited Taramino, he even sent everyone map links to recommended places. We found them very helpful! Carmelo went above and beyond on this excursion! My only advice to him would be to hold the microphone away from his mouth several inches. Holding the mic too close, made the speakers way too loud and distorted his voice, so we couldn't understand some of what he was telling us.
