Join us in a unique tour through the ages and explore the other side of the city. We will visit neighbourhoods like Topanas, Splantzia, Kolombo, and Kasteli, high spots to admire the panoramic view of the harbour, traditional Cretan taverns, and magnificent buildings. Also, we will visit the ancient ruins of the greatest Minoan city, Kydonia, and the high walls of the Venetian moats, called “Tafros”. Archaeological Site Of Aptera

Learn about the ancient city of Aptera. Our first stop after an interesting drive up will be the ‘’Ancient site of Ap-tera’’ and ‘’fortress of Koules’’. Explore the Roman cisterns, the monastery, the picturesque church, and the absolutely beautiful ancient theatre that still remains. At the archaeological site of Aptera, you will be able to admire findings of all periods of inhabitation of this City-State. The walls of the ancient city, which is 3.480 meters long, dating back to its acne period, of the 4th century BC. Afterward, we have time to take magnificent photos of the view to Souda Bay from the Fortress of Koules. The view from there is absolutely breathtaking! Time spending there is about 1h30m.

Old Venetian Harbor

Minoan neighborhoods, Ottoman bathhouses, Hellenistic walls, Latin inscriptions, a church with the symbols of two religions, boot-makers shops, imposing Venetian bastions, knife-makers shops, underground cisterns, a Venetian harbour and an African village are just a part of the multicultural mosaic of the town’s past and of its architectural treasures.

Immerse yourself in an engaging historical tour at Chania Old Town, where five millennia of history and prehistory will unravel before your eyes. We will visit streets, buildings, high spots, neighborhoods, and monuments that only we, locals, know. We will walk together on the stone paths where the Venetians, the Ottomans, and the old Cretans used to live and work. We will admire the incredible flower-decorated neighbourhoods, learn about Cretan history, Cretan mythology, and traditions, meet the locals, and eat like locals.

A great day in Aptera/Old Chania

Ari was wonderful. We had a very comfortable and clean van for three of us with a very accommodating driver, Georgios. We toured Aptera and gained much information from our extremely knowledgable guide. Ari was cognizant of our needs and desires throughout the tour and was very flexible n she did not rush us in any way. We toured the Venetian Harbor and Old Town and Ari took us to a very good restaurant for lunch and helped us order authentic Greek food. It was delicious!

Our tour guide, Catharina was delightful. She was very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. The van was comfortable and we were glad to avoid the crowds of busses everywhere. They were able to accommodate our group of 8 and answered all of our questions prior to the tour promptly. We did not feel rushed and were returned to the cruise port at the appointed time.
