  • Cupola Del Brunelleschi

    For centuries, the massive dome that sits atop the Florence Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore was considered an architectural impossibility by most experts in the field. How could it be built? How would it stand up to its own weight? And how would they put a dome of such size on top of the cathedral's existing structure? But in 1420, Filippo Brunelleschi finally pulled off what was thought to be impossible when he finished his construction masterpiece, which continues to stand today as one of the most iconic structures in all of Italy and even all of Europe. From up there you can see all Florence with its wonders in a majestic panorama, it is really one of those unforgettable experiences! The first view from up there is just spectacular – we would say that everything you have ever seen from within Florence so far looks completely different from there!

    Giotto's Campanile is a bell tower located in the heart of Florence, next to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Easy to find the agent near the entrance to exchange vouchers for the actual admittance ticket. Show up early to get a spot towards the front of the line to maximize time at the top of the dome.

Great experience - the ticket got you easy access to the entire complex (Dome climb, baptistery, bell tower climb, cathedral and museum). The agent was at the location 15 minutes before the scheduled Dome climb time and picking up the tickets was easy.

Excellent tour....but those steps!

Really glad we did the trek up to the top of the Domo, the view over Florence was amazing in all directions. Ticket also provides access to three other sites and is valid over 3 days, something I didn't realise. My knees aren't the best and I have to be honest and say the 463 stairs were challenging. No many places to take a rest either. Several sections were very steep, almost like a ladder, so I guess I'm advising if the joints aren't good and your fitness level is below average, maybe consider an alternative. But if the above doesn't frighten you, go for it. Best view in town.
