Imperial Museum

Upon entering the Complex, the visitor will pass through a sanitary barrier, where the temperature will be measured. The use of a mask is mandatory. Alcohol gel totems are positioned in several spaces. The Imperial Museum has the main collection in the country relating to the Brazilian empire.

Quitandinha Palace Congress and Convention Center

It has 50 thousand square meters and six floors, divided into 440 apartments and 13 large rooms up to 10 meters high. The dome of the Salão Mauá is the largest concrete dome in the world, measuring 30m in height and 50m in diameter. A large amount of sand from Copacabana beach was used in the construction of the lake.

Catedral de Sao Pedro de Alcantara

Construction in French neo-Gothic style. Inside, there is the Mausoleum where the remains of the Imperial Family are located (Dom Pedro II, Mrs. Teresa Cristina, Princess Isabel and Count D'Eu, his eldest son Pedro de Alcântara and his wife D. Elisabeth) and can also be sculptures by Jean Magrou, Bertozzi, stained glass windows and paintings by Carlos Oswald can be seen.

Crystal Palace

It opened in 1884 to house exhibitions of flowers, birds and agricultural products. Its precast structure, in cast iron, was ordered from a foundry in France by Count D`Eu, being assembled in Petrópolis by engineer Eduardo Bonjean. Today it hosts cultural events and exhibitions.

This was a nice, complete tour of Petropolis. Very enjoyable day with Chris. Saw everything that was listed on the itinerary and had enough time to explore a bit on our own. Lunch was a buffet with good selections. The only downside was that we were the first pickup, so it was almost 2 hours by the time we got everyone on board and departed Rio. Long day (12 hours) for the driver, guide and us, but a good experience.

Very well a day trip from Copacabana to Petropols.The trip correspondent with the description and we have sufficient time to this visit.. the lunch was in the buffet restaurant with very good variety food. The visit to the Bohemian beer factory was excellent.. The museum is very well organized with a lot of information and also sufficient beer testing.. the visit to the imperial Palace was very interesting. The tour guide Mrs Christine gives us a lot of explication and all the time was full with information.
