Overview

After a hike through an alien-like glacial tundra, we will arrive at the edge of the glacier where your guide will assist you in putting your crampons on. We will explore ice caves where your photographer will capture you inside these natural wonders. Once through the lower cave, which is named Sapphire Ice Cave, we will gear up for our hike on the glacier. With crampons on, you will hike to many different formations on the glacier including our famous crystal crevasses. The visuals you will see all around you will create an unimaginable experience as your photographer captures you amongst it. We are the only tour company in Iceland that offers photo packages along with the smallest group sizes of any glacier tour operator. Every glacier hike through Ice Pic Journeys includes photos from your tour. Each person will receive 10 professionally edited photographs sent via a Drive within the 14 days after your hike. These will include the iconic Blue Ice Cave photos.

We will meet you in the Glacier Lagoon (Jökulsárlón) parking lot and will drive to the glacier in our superjeep.

    Glacier Lagoon (Jökulsárlón) is one of the most iconic locations in Iceland and the foremost place where you can get up close and personal with crystal blue icebergs as they are taken our to sea.

    Breiðamerkurjökull is one of the most exceptional glaciers of Vatnajökull due to its very slow movement and therefore consistently has the largest Ice Caves in Iceland each year. We are excited to bring you to the crystal blue Ice of Breiðamerkurjökull.

My Husband and I did the Winter Glacier Hike + Ice Cave Adventure. The tour started on time, we had the maximum number of people on this tour (10), I was a little apprehensive as our first tour had to be cancelled as they were having issues with the zip line part of the tour and that was going to be a smaller group. However, it didn’t feel crowded whatsoever. Our tour guide Claudia made the experience very enjoyable. She was oairent, friendly, and most importantly knowledgeable and full of facts. We love asking questions when experiencing something new and she answered all of them explained everything so well and clearly.

Amazing hike and climb. The whole experience was perfect start to finish. The guides were very personal, funny, and informative. I proposed to my girlfriend now fiancé, the photographer helped set it all up, and helped with the surprise. Couldn’t recommend more t enough and the views and pictures are stunning.

Krzysztof was such a fun and interactive guide! He explained the science and history behind the immense glaciers and the ice caves. He made sure safety was the top priority while also managing to capture such incredible moments with his camera! I highly recommend this tour and hope you are lucky enough to get Krzysztof as your amazing guide for these colossal blue beauties! :)
