Enjoy the enthralling vistas of the Alps along this famous stretch of road.
Schloss Hohenschwangau

Castle Hohenschwangau is located at the base of Neuschwanstein castle so we see both of them at the same time. We do not usually tour the inside of the this palace but we do get to see it from the outside.

Hike up to the castle and enjoy the tour inside with no hassles, no standing lines and simply pay the guide for the tour afterwards.

We stop in this quaint village for a traditional lunch in a small but very local restaurant run by our good friend Marty. They serve the best Schnitzel or freshly caught fish Austria has to offer.

We stop here for an amazing lunch, Austrian style with the option to swim if the weather permits.

The Tour of Linderhof Palace is optional and tickets are not included in the price.

Alpine Coaster Oberammergau

Should you want a bit more adventure on your tour we can substitute one activity ie. Ettal or Oberammergau and do this once in a lifetime Alpine Coaster. Thing rollercoaster but with brakes that you can use at any time to slow down. Top speed is only 25 miles per hour and to get there, we take a very slow but scenic chair lift lasting 20 minutes to get you to the top of the mountain. From there you have phenomenal photo opportunities of the town and then surrounding Alps. Let you guide know on the day of your tour and he will make it happen.

Worth every penny!

Siegmund is a hoot. Kept us entertained for the entire 8 hours we were together. He’s got a great store of historical knowledge to share and also fun facts based on his experience. He customized the day to our preferences and desired activity level so we did just the things we were most interested in. One thing to note is the climb to Neuschwanstein Castle is steep and snowy in December. Gorgeous, but be sure to wear boots with winter traction, otherwise you’ll be waiting in a long queue to ride the horse carriage up the mountain (buses weren’t running the day we were there and the bridge was closed). The alpine sled is worth a ride whether you take it slow to enjoy the view or zoom down for the exhilaration. A stop for pastry and a peek into a stunning Catholic Church in Steingaden started us on the journey with a bit of history at the village maypole. And ask to see the variety of items for sale in the town vending machine! Lunch at Marty’s in Austria and afternoon tea and shopping in Oberammergau capped the day. Definitely a five-star tour, worth every penny!

Good experience, knowledgeable guide

We booked the private tour as the less expensive bus tours were sold out. We did not imagine Munich to be such a hot travel destination over winter holidays, but it is, so book early. Also Neuschwanstein Castle tickets sell out quickly (despite the fact that you only get to tour 4 rooms and it is SO crowded that you are herded along like cattle). We toured the inside of Linderhof instead which was a much more intimate experience and Linderhof was actually finished in terms of construction and decoration. I think Neuschwanstein is better to be seen from the outside. Anyhow, our tour guide Alex was good; because it was private we were able to add/delete from the itinerary depending on what we wanted. He picked us up at 8am from our hotel and dropped us off where we needed at the end of the day. We covered a lot of ground, which we would have been unable to do on our own just renting a car, as he knew shortcuts, the best time to visit a certain attraction, what time ticket booths close etc. We also went to an Austrian restaurant with great food that we wouldn't have known on our own. Most of us thought it was money well spent. However after paying almost $200 per person, some in our group did not appreciate that we had to pay extra for castle tickets etc. It might be good to roll those into the tour price to avoid the impression of customers getting nickel and dimed. Some also thought it was too much to cover in one day and that it felt rushed. I think this is a personal preference thing so won't hold it against the tour company or guide. I personally would rather cover as much ground as I can in a day, so I didn't mind it.

Sigman was very accommodating, we started off with a rough patch all due to me, but sigman made it work, he was knowledgeable engaging friendly and a pleasure . Unlike the tour from get your guide all things Bavarian (stay away)

Signing, with Mike’s Bikes was, hands-down, the most passionate and knowledgeable guide I’ve encountered in many other excursions. Engaging, passionate, and entertaining, he made the day a highlight of our trip. Because of our time constraint we shortened our day and he was very accommodating. Ask for Sigmund when you book. Oh, also he is bilingual, German and English.

We had an amazing day with Alex. Very accommodating with a family of 5 kids with the youngest being 9 months! Such an amazing experience just driving through the Alps and visiting the castles! Highly recommend. Kids think Alex was great! And he was very patient with them.
