Overview

Embark on a guided tour of Berchtesgaden Mountains, Hitler's mountain retreat and the southern headquarters of the Nazi party on a full day coach trip from Munich. Eagle's Nest is a mountain top lodge built by the Nazis, and is a fascinating sight of historical significance. Located at 6,148 feet (1,834 meters) on top of Mt Kehlstein Open(Kehlsteinhaus only open beetween 20.05.2025 until 31.10.2025 ), the lodge has some of Germany's most amazing views of the Alps mountain range. Ironically, Hitler suffered from vertigo and rarely took pleasure in the views.

    After a scenic drive along the German Alpine Road through impressive scenic valleys, we reach Berchtesgaden.

    The 2-hour bus journey continues to Obersalzberg, where you'll get off the bus.

  • Kehlsteinhaus

    A special bus and an elevator tunneled straight through the rock bring you up to the Eagle’s Nest, a high command post built by the Nazi party for Hitler’s 50th birthday. Kehlsteinhaus only open beetween 20.05.2025 until 31.10.2025

This excursion made for a long day, but it was worth it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant. She educated and entertained us while on the bus ride. The views of the Bavaria region during the bus ride, alone, make the trip worth it. The weather did not permit us going up to the Eagle's Nest, which we knew in advance, but the salt mine was the alternate for that part of the tour and was fun.

Elisabeth is amazing, pleasant and has detailed history knowledge. I found her commentary very interesting. She even came around to everyone at the near end of the tour to ask if we have any questions about the day and Munich. Philip, the driver, did a great job driving us on the 10.5h day trip.
