Next, heading to the magnificent Forbidden City, the largest Imperial Palace in the world. You’ll spend a couple of hours wandering around this amazing example of Imperial architecture and learning about the history of the palace. The whole morning tour will be around 2 hours.

After lunch, you will visit the classic and historic Hutong alleys by riding a rickshaw. In Beijing, hutongs are alleys formed by lines of siheyuan, traditional courtyard residences. Many neighbourhoods were formed by joining one siheyuan to another to form a hutong, and then joining one hutong to another. The word hutong is also used to refer to such neighbourhoods. At the end, you will visit Temple of Heaven, it is an imperial complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. After your classic city tour, your tour guide will send you back to your hotel in Beijing.

We highly recommend this tour when visiting Beijing. It included visits to Tiananmen, Forbidden City, and a visit to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Our tour guide Lisa from Catherine Lu Tours was very friendly and knowledgeable, fluent in English and switched back and forth between Mandarin easily. If you want to see the main highlights in and around Beijing book this tour.
Perfect Beijing Hightlights Tour

We picked Catherine Lu tours because they were able to provide an itinerary that met our needs. We were a group of 3 traveling from NYC and wanted to start our trip in Beijing with a highlights tour to get a feel for the city. Our tour guide Maggie was wonderful, and not only was very knowledgeable of the sites themselves, but also gave us a lot of general trips to make the most of Beijing. We ended up spending another day with Maggie was well (to see the Great Wall and Summer Palace) and we are very grateful that she was our guide!wed highly recommend both Catherine Lu Tours and Maggie.
A great experience with a legitimate tour company

I was very pleased with this tour. Communication from the back office staff was timely and helpful. My driver, Mr. YU, was excellent and efficient. And my tour guide, Angel, was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and genuinely kind. I loved the attractions that we visited, and going with a private guide removed so much of the logistical work that I would have needed to complete if I visited the same locations on my own. Also, the restaurant where we had lunch was tasty and authentic. Again, a great excursion!
One day for a lifetime of memories

It was incredible! I saw so many things in such a short period of time. My guide was May and she was wonderful. She went above and beyond. She was very knowledgeable about the history of each site and was an expert at getting me in and out of them with ease. She adjusted and adapted the tour to fit with my interests and even helped me make reservations for a restaurant later in the evening. I cannot recommend this tour enough! I saw a side of Beijing and China that I never knew existed and I'll carry these memories with me for the rest of my life.
Convenient and comfortable experience

Overall great experience visiting the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and also the Temple of Heaven. Jenny was a wonderful guide who patiently explained to us the history of the palace and different sites. Jenny also goes the extra mile to really assist her clients even after the tour. The tour was also very convenient in that it covered transportation, lunch and entry into the various locations. Highly recommended.
