Overview

Join a scenic cruise to Walter Peak on board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. Once you arrive over at the working high country station, partake in a wander around the grounds to meet and greet all the animals that call the farm home. Our guides will give fun and informative commentary, and you'll be delighted by a farm show detailing life for the working dogs. Indulge in a decadently classic country morning/afternoon tea with homemade scones and tea. Use your time to your leisure to wander the gardens and re-visit your new animal friends. Please be sure to arrive 20 minutes before your departure time to check in.

Great Experience

We sent out to Walter Peak Farm on the TSS Earnslaw in the afternoon. The trip out was lovely and relaxing. The farm tour was interesting and informative. The shearing and sheep dog show was exciting and worthwhile. I would highly recommend Walter Peak Farm to anyone looking for something a little bit different.

So nice! A cruise on the Earnslaw- a beautiful steam ship. Like going back in time. Beautiful landscapes to watch as you cruise over to the the farm. And what a surprise! The meal was so good!! I mean it! The food was really good. A buffet of so many delicious selections. Meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans can all eat here and love it. Then the sheep shearing show was delightful.

It was about a 40 minute boat ride to the farm - nice views, pleasant ride. The farm tour was approximately 2 hours - it included high tea, (which was very tasty - the scones were fabulous), a tour of the farm and a sheep shearing demonstration. It was a beautiful farm and the tour guide was very friendly.

The cruise over and back was very relaxing but it did feel breezy on deck when the ship was under way (even on a warm, still day) so maybe take a sweater with you. We did the farm tour with Ashley and got to meet and feed lots of different animals including a huge (but very placid) Dougie the Highland cow or 'Woolly Coo' as we say in Scotland. Ashley's sheep sheering demo was fascinating and a lot of fun - the double act with her dog was cute and pure comedy. The high tea in the open barn was ok - plenty of different buns and cakes but pesky birds a bit of a pain. We had a great day and would happily recommend it to anyone.

Great tour. Farm was so much fun getting to feed animals, watch dogs herding, and seeing a sheep sheared.

Later tours will have less small children. The ship, afternoon tea, and farm tour were all wonderful
