We were lucky to have Thor as our tour guide, he was amazing and so friendly. We learnt so much about Iceland from him, in such an interesting way!
The hike wasn’t too difficult, but it was an incredible experience; we saw recent eruption sites and the view of the landscape from the top was breathtaking!
After the hike Thor took us for a drive through a town (I cannot remember the name) which recently had 4,000 people living there that had to evacuate due to earthquakes and lava. It had only been open for the public to visit for a couple of weeks, we drove around the town and could see the devastation that these natural disasters had caused! It was extremely eerie, like driving around a ghost town as it was still completely abandoned! This was such a bonus as it isn’t advertised, however for us was the most interesting part!!
Then we went on to the blue lagoon, our tickets included a free face mask and a free drink from the bar which you can swim up to. It was our first time visiting the lagoon, and it was magical, it was so much bigger and better than we could have ever expected. It wasn’t too busy and we had a really relaxing time, there wasn’t a rush at all as we were given over 2 hours to spend there.
This trip was worth every penny, would definitely recommend it to anyone who is visiting Iceland.
